A huge NBA showdown is on tap tonight between the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers. Tip is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and will air on ABC from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Warriors 115, 76ers 99
Under 214.5 (-110) at DraftKings
The 76ers were severely short-handed when they faced the Warriors earlier this season. They also were on the road. Yet, despite being on the road and playing without the likes of Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons or Joel Emibiid, the 76ers took a 61-52 lead into halftime.
While they couldn't keep it up in the second half, things are different this time. This time, the 76ers are at home, where the crowd can keep them energized the whole way. Simmons remains out but Harris and Embiid are back. Needless to say, that's a huge difference. Both teams, for various reasons, struggle to cover the spread inside Wells Fargo - so search playing the combined O/U record of 16-33-2 and take the UNDER as the safest bet.
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
The Warriors won here last season (No Harris or Simmons for Philly), but they've long had trouble here. They're just 3-11 ATS their last 14 visits here, so Golden State isn't a sure lock as it might seem on paper tonight. The Warriors take their NBA best 21-4 record on the road to the City of Brotherly Love and ironically Curry will be facing his brother Seth Curry as he chases down history and become the NBA all time leader in three pointers. The Warriors are 7-2 on the road while Philly just 5-6 at home.
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
Not only does Embiid dominate but he gets the other team in foul trouble. Steve Kerr said this of Embiid, "Playing against Joel is like going into a time machine. It's like playing against Patrick Ewing or Shaq or Hakeem Olajuwon, it's a low post-game. He will step out and shoot 3s and run some DHOs and he's good with that, but he's one of the few guys in the league now who can dominate a game from the low block and they've done a great job with their roster."
Embiid will have to dominate the entire game for a Sixers victory here, but its very possible along with the sluggish results Golden State has seen inside Wells Fargo over time. The Sixers, however, are sluggish inside Wells Fargo as well with just a 3-8 ATS home record this season.
