BOSTON CELTICS VS. BROOKLYN NETS PREDICTIONS

After finishing seventh in the East with a record of 36-36 SU last year, the Celtics stumbled out to a surprisingly poor start to this season, as Boston opened with a lackluster 15-20 SU and ATS skid – with ten of those SU losses coming by double-digits.

Boston has played excellent at both ends since the start of January though, considering the Celtics enter Tuesday’s contest riding a sturdy 14-6 SU run – while averaging 109 PPG offensively and surrendering just 98.8 PPG defensively across that window.

On the other hand, Brooklyn absolutely dominated to start the season, as the Nets kicked things off with a sturdy 26-14 SU run – with 15 of those victories coming by eight points or more.

The last few weeks have been incredibly shaky without Kevin Durant though, considering Brooklyn is averaging just 110.7 PPG at home and 110.2 PPG on the road across their latest 3-10 SU skid – primarily stemming from the inconsistent participation of Kyrie Irving and James Harden.

I’ll back Boston here, as the Celtics are 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS across their last eight games, while averaging a sturdy 112 PPG offensively during that timeframe – likely presenting a steep uphill battle for a short-handed Nets squad that’s averaging just 107 PPG at home across their current eight-game losing streak.

BOSTON CELTICS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 30-25
  • ATS: 27-27-1
  • O/U: 22-32-1

After last year’s lackluster 36-36 SU showing, Boston kept that same ball rolling with another mediocre start to this season, as the Celtics kicked things off with a pedestrian 15-20 SU stretch – despite getting tagged as favorites in 22 of those contests.

Boston has dominated since New Year’s Eve though, considering the Celtics enter Tuesday’s event riding an impressive 14-6 SU run, while scoring 114+ PTS in eight of those contests (109 PPG) – and allowing 100 PTS or less in 11 of them (99 PPG).

BROOKLYN NETS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 29-24
  • ATS: 20-32-1
  • O/U: 24-28-1

After stumbling out to a surprisingly rocky 2-3 SU start to the season, the Nets quickly settled into a rhythm during the early stages of November, as Brooklyn now boasts a sturdy record of 29-24 SU – yet still rank near the bottom of the barrel ATS at 20-32-1.

Brooklyn’s struggles have quickly amplified since KD’s latest injury though, considering the Nets are just 3-10 SU across their last 13 games, which includes a 2-7 SU tally in road matchups with Irving – and a 1-3 SU mark in home matchups without him.

The Celtics are 7-1 SU in their last eight games. (AP)

BOSTON CELTICS VS. BROOKLYN NETS HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Nets swept a three-game regular-season set against Boston last year, with the first two contests going over the total at an average of 224 PPG – while the final matchup went under with a score of 109-104. The most recent matchup between these teams took place back in November of this season though, which resulted in another relatively high-scoring victory for Brooklyn (123-104).

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • BOS: Jayson Tatum - SF (25.6 PPG, 8.5 REB, 4.1 AST)
  • BOS: Jaylen Brown - SG (23.9 PPG, 6.5 REB, 3 AST)
  • BKN: James Harden - PG (22.5 PPG, 8 REB, 10.2 AST)
  • BKN: Patty Mills - SG (13.8 PPG, 2.2 REB, 2.5 AST)

BOSTON CELTICS VS. BROOKLYN NETS BETTING CONCLUSION

After extending their losing streak to eight games with an ugly road loss to Denver on Sunday night (L, 124-104), the Nets return home for Tuesday’s contest as narrow underdogs against the Celtics at Barclays Center – marking the eighth time Brooklyn has been an underdog across their last nine matchups.

I’ll back Boston here, as the Nets are just 3-10 SU across their last 13 contests, while generating 110.4 PPG offensively and surrendering 117.5 PPG defensively during that span – setting the stage for another unfavorable matchup against a Celtics squad that’s allowed 100 PTS or less 11 times across their latest 14-6 SU run (98.8 PPG).
