Minnesota Timberwolves -1.5 vs. IND

The Pacers are off to a surprisingly excellent start after finishing 13th in the East with a record of 25-57 last season, as Indiana opened with a solid 10-6 run, while ranking seventh in the league in offensive rating and sixth in pace across their first 16 contests (117 PPG, 101.3 PACE).

While on the flip side, the Timberwolves have performed on the opposite side of the expectancy spectrum so far this season, as Minnesota kicked things off with a relatively pedestrian 9-8 stretch, which positions them 10th in the Western Conference standings at the moment.

I’ll back Minnesota here, though, as the Timberwolves have now won four straight games since their head-scratching 5-8 start, which includes tough victories over the Cavs, Sixers, and Heat. And much better days should be ahead for this Wolves squad following last year’s 46-36 finish, plus the addition of three-time DPOY Rudy Gobert to the equation this past offseason.

Anfernee Simons (POR) Over 24.5 Points

After seeing less than 21 minutes of action per game in his first three NBA seasons, Anfernee Simons quickly sprung onto the scene in dire times for Portland in his fourth professional campaign, as Simons averaged a career-high 17.3 PPG on roughly 30 minutes per game across the Blazers’ miserable 27-55 campaign last year.

And he hasn’t missed a beat so far this season, as Simons currently ranks second on the team in scoring with an average of 22.9 PPG, which only trails Damian Lillard in the pecking order (26.3 PPG), who’s expected to miss at least 1-2 weeks with a calf strain.

I’ll back Simons to have a solid night in the scoring department here, as he’s now scored 29+ PTS in three-of-four outings without Lillard in the lineup this season (28.3 PPG), with his only performance falling short of that number ringing in at 23 PTS in a double-digit win over New Orleans. And I think we’ll see him continue to assume a similar workload after putting up 23 FGA against Milwaukee on Monday night.

Milwaukee Bucks -6.5 vs. CHI

The Bulls entered this season with sky high expectations after stringing together a solid record of 46-36 across last year’s injury riddled campaign. However, their mediocrity has persisted through the early stages of the season, as Chicago currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 7-10, while ranking 18th in the league in scoring and 20th in offensive rating during their opening stretch.

The Bucks have somewhat lost their groove after barreling out to a perfect 9-0 start, as Milwaukee enters Wednesday with a record of 12-4 on the season. However, I expect to see them to get back on track at home against a Bulls squad that’s now lost six of their last eight games, with half of those losses coming by a lofty margin of 9+ points.
