Phoenix Suns -2.5 (-110) vs. SAC

The Suns made an earth shattering move to acquire Kevin Durant last week, and he’s not expected to suit up for them until after the All-Star Break. So, for the meantime, Phoenix is a little bit shorthanded, however, that certainly hasn’t prevented them from continuing to truck full steam ahead, considering the Suns are now 6-2 in their last eight games, while ranking Top 10 in the league in net rating during that span (+2.1 NetRtg).

While on the other hand, Sacramento has also played solid basketball as of late, considering the Kings have posted a modest record of 12-6 since early January, despite ranking just 16th in the league in defensive rating during that stretch (116.1 DRtg).

This Kings’ squad is much better than the teams that they’ve trotted out in years past, and you can’t fault them for running through the recent string of opponents on their schedule, however, Sacramento appears to be due for a wake-up call tonight.

The Kings enter Tuesday’s contest following wins in 10 of their last 13 games, which is no easy feat under any set of circumstances in this league, but make note, during that stretch, they posted wins over the Magic, Wolves, Thunder, Lakers, Spurs (2), and Rockets (3). So, for the time being, I would avoid jumping to any conclusions regarding this young Sacramento team, given the overall merit of their opposition recently.

Chris Paul (PHX) Over 3.5 Rebounds

Sticking with Phoenix for Pick No. 2, the Suns have a handful of holes in their lineup at the moment, primarily due to the fact that they had to sacrifice several pieces of the original puzzle in order to acquire Durant, and Durant still hasn’t suited up for them yet.

In their last few contests, Chris Paul has slacked off a little bit in the rebounding department, highlighted by CP3 securing less than three boards in two of the Suns’ last three games.

Prior to his latest three-game stretch, though, Paul was flying around the floor and filling up the statsheet more than usual, considering he recorded 4+ rebounds in six-of-seven games immediately following his return from injury back in mid-January, with four of those performances ringing in at 6+ rebounds.

So, I’ll back Paul to clear his rebound number in tonight’s matchup against a Kings squad that ranks Top 10 in the league in pace (100.6 PACE), and 1st in points scored per game (120 PPG).

Wizards-Trail Blazers Over 235.5 (-110)

The Trail Blazers are one of the weirdest teams in the league, and nothing’s changed regarding that matter as of late, considering they are now 7-4 in their last 11 games, which all of a sudden, has catapulted them back into playoff contention in the West, as they currently trail the Jazz by just one game for the final spot in the Play-In Tournament.

The most interesting part about Portland’s recent success, though, is the fact that it seems to stem from a sudden uptick in production at the offensive end. The Blazers rank 12th in scoring and 23rd in overall pace of play on the season (115 PPG, 97.8 PACE), however, across their latest 7-4 run, they’ve combined with their opponents for a monster average of 245 PPG.

While on the other hand, the Wizards are in a similar boat, currently ranked 18th in the league in pace, but they enter Tuesday having cleared the 120-point scoring mark in four of their last seven affairs. So, I’ll take the ‘over’ in tonight’s late matchup between a pair of squads that have combined with their opponents for an average of 252.5 PPG in their last two contests.
