DALLAS MAVERICKS vs. LOS ANGELES LAKERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Mavericks have been stuck in no man’s land for years now, primarily due to the fact that as long as Luka Doncic is on the roster, they’ll always have the DNA of an excellent regular-season team, having won 42+ games in three straight campaigns, and that’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of. 

However, Dallas has never surrounded Luka with the pieces necessary to truly contend for a championship, which became very apparent in their ugly five-game loss to Golden State in last year’s Western Conference Finals.

So, when the opportunity presented itself, the Mavs decided to take a big swing on Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline, which in theory, gives them far more upside in regards to title contention, yet has decimated their depth, and at this point, without Doncic and Irving on the floor, this team is a total dumpster fire.

The Mavericks are 4-9 in their last 13 games, which primarily stems from the fact that they rank 25th in defensive rating during that span (118.5 DRtg), and when a team is down its two best scoring threats, it’s imperative that they step up their game at the defensive end.

While on the other hand, the Lakers are also dealing with a handful of health issues at the moment, primarily highlighted by LeBron James being sidelined with a foot injury. However, this L. A.’ team just keeps gaining steam, despite appearing to be down for the count at the trade deadline, considering they enter Friday having won eight of their last 12 games, while ranking 5th in net rating during that timeframe (4.4 NetRtg).

So, I’ll lay the points with L. A. in tonight’s matchup against a Mavs’ squad that’s 2-4 in their last six games, with their only wins during that stretch coming against the Jazz and Spurs.
