GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. DALLAS MAVERICKS BETTING PREDICTION

For those still wrestling with the idea of the disparity in overall team performance based on game location in the NBA, I’d encourage you to look no further than the Warriors home vs. away splits for the season, and try to make a case for Golden State’s struggles on the road coming as pure coincidence.

The Warriors are positioned 6th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 37-36 on the year, however, their overall record certainly doesn’t tell the full story, considering they’ve posted an impressive record of 29-7 on their home floor, and a record of 8-29 away from it.

For a while, the masses claimed that the Warriors were simply drawing tougher opponents on the road, combined with a handful of bad breaks injury-wise, but at this point, it looks like that ship has officially sailed. Plan and simple, this Warriors’ team is just good at home and bad on the road, currently ranked 5th in net rating on their home floor (+7.7 NetRtg), and 27th away from it (-6.7 NetRtg).

While on the other hand, the Mavericks have been stuck in no man’s land for years now, primarily due to the fact that as long as Luka Doncic is on the roster, they’ll always have the DNA of an excellent regular-season team, having won 42+ games in three straight campaigns, which is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, but they’ve never really surrounded Luka with the pieces necessary to truly contend for a championship.

So, when the opportunity presented itself, the Mavs decided to take a big swing on Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline, which in theory, gives them far more upside in regards to title contention, yet it’s also decimated their depth, and at this point, without their superstar duo on the floor, this team is a total dumpster fire.

The Mavericks are 5-10 in their last 15 games, primarily stemming from the fact they rank 25th in defensive rating during that span (118.6 DRtg), and when a team’s top two scoring options are shelved, it usually forces the supporting cast to pick up some slack at the other end, which they are finally starting to do, having surrendered 113 points or less in five of their last six games, and now, resulting in wins in two of their last three.

The Mavericks enter Wednesday having scored 108 points or less in four of their last six games. So, I’ll take the ‘under’ in tonight’s rematch against a Warriors’ squad that’s 3-6 in their last nine games, and 1-11 in their last 12 road games.
