Bengals vs. Buccaneers Prediction

Godwin should be back into a near full-time slot role for Tampa and about as healthy as he will be all season in the opener after dealing with injuries nearly all of last year.

The slot has long been Godwin's most productive spot on the field over his career, and he no longer has to compete with a future Hall of Famer for targets, as Mike Evans is now playing for the 49ers. Godwin’s main competition is now 2nd-year WR Emeka Egbuka, who has been battling a toe injury for nearly a month. Toe injuries, especially turf toe, can be very debilitating for WR performance while players play through it. It was never labeled as turf toe by the team, but call me slightly skeptical.

If Egbuka isn't 100%, this could open up even more opportunity for Godwin.

Godwin also has a healthy Baker Mayfield throwing to him, who was another victim of lingering injuries all of last season. Mayfield also has elite LT Tristan Wirfs back to protect him after he missed some games last season with injury.

The last time we saw a healthy Godwin on the field a few years ago, he was an elite producer, and while he is now entering the final years of his career, there is too much going his way to open the season to not take a shot on a good performance in Week 1.
