2021 Cincinnati Bengals Betting Odds, Predictions, Preview

The Cincinnati Bengals drafted QB Joe Burrow No. 1 overall in 2020 in hopes of turning things around rather rapidly. But they forgot something rather important along the way, and that's the fact that he also needs an offensive line to operate behind, or he is going to get killed. And killed he nearly was in 2020, sacked 32 times in just the 10 games he played before getting knocked out. He was 2-7-1 in the games he played. He was also sacked 18 times in four games against the Browns (7 in two games), Ravens (7 in one game) and Steelers (4 in one game).

The Bengals got Burrow help with WR Ja'Marr Chase, a former teammate at LSU, and they picked up OT Jackson Carman from Clemson to protect his backside. OT D'Ante Smith, a bulky body from East Carolina, and C Trey Hill from Georgia, were also added to shore things up in the trenches to keep No. 9 upright and out of the medical tent.

Gone is veteran WR A.J. Green, although he hadn't really contributed a whole lot in the past two seasons anyway. WR Tyler Boyd gets help with Chase, as well as last season's solid rookie Tee Higgins. The tight end position is a little shaky, but if RB Joe Mixon can bounce back to his pre-injury form, Cincinnati could have an offense capable of hanging with their AFC North counterparts.

The schedule starts off a little on the rough side, with a visit from the Minnesota Vikings, and road trips to Chicago and Pittsburgh. They also have a quick turnaround for a primetime Thursday game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, reacquainting Burrow and Trevor Lawrence in a surprisingly intriguing game. It might be Cincy's first win of the 2021 campaign, too.

After some rest, a visit from Green Bay is no bargain, and they wrap up their NFC North battles with a trip to Detroit in mid-October. That could be one of their better chances at a road win all season.

The division schedule won't offer many opportunities at wins, and if they could somehow win one or two against the rivals, it would be huge.

Looking at this schedule, especially the first month, and the last month, I just don't see how the books feel this is a team capable of winning six or more games. I think they're more of a four-win team, therefore playing the UNDER 6.5 wins (-143) seems like a slam-dunk play, although they will be more competitive, and much better than previous seasons.

Cincinnati Bengals Odds to Win AFC North

+2000

The Bengals are expected to be in the basement, and they might very well be the only team in the AFC North which doesn't qualify for the postseason.

Cincinnati Bengals Odds to Win AFC Championship

+5000

There is no chance the Bengals compete for a Super Bowl title this season, although they're on the right path in their rebuild. Burrow is the face of the franchise, and they picked up plenty of protection. It might be a few years, but the Bengals are on the move. Just don't waste your money on this bet now.

Cincinnati Bengals Odds to Win Super Bowl 56

+10000

There is no way this happens. Even in the days when Boomer Esiason, Ickey Woods, Carl Pickens, Corey Dillon, Ken Anderson, James Brooks, Jeff Blake, Anthony Muñoz, Chad Ochocinco, etc., this team wasn't winning Super Bowl. And it isn't happening in 2021, either.

Cincinnati Bengals 2021 MVP Contenders & Odds

Joe Burrow +5000

Joe Mixon +20000

Burrow isn't in the same neighborhood as the likes of Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, etc., and his team isn't likely to get out of the basement in the AFC North. As such, he has no chance, nor does his tailback Mixon. Skip.

Fewest Games Won: +1000
Coach of the Year: Zak Taylor +4000

I think the Houston Texans likely have the 'Fewest Games Won' locked up for 2021, but the Bengals could give them a run for their money, especially if they protect Burrow in the same manner they did last season. Cincinnati has a lot of work to do, and the best bet of the above wagers is banking on Cincinnati to keep being Bengal-like, and holding up the bottom.
