2022 GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

Green Bay won the NFC North and earned the top seed in the NFC with an impressive record of 13-4 last season, however, Aaron Rodgers’ second consecutive MVP campaign abruptly came to a halt in the Divisional Round, as the Packers went in cold after their first-round bye and fell to the Niners in an ugly snow battle at Lambeau Field (L, 13-10).

The Packers traded away All-Pro wideout Davante Adams to Las Vegas this offseason, which has depleted Green Bay’s receiving core to the ranks of Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, and Sammy Watkins; and while many believe Rodgers will be significantly hampered by the loss of his favorite target, I’m relatively fond of the Packers adding more unpredictability to their passing game.

Adams comfortably ranks amongst the league’s top receivers, and his departure inevitably stings; however, Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen, and while I expect Green Bay to show some early regression without Adams to start, the Packers should ultimately be just as dangerous by the time this year’s playoffs roll around.

The Packers’ win total is stationed at OU 11.5 with the oddsmakers leaning slightly towards the under at -140; and while it’s natural to expect some regression from last year’s 13-4 mark, I still like Green Bay to go over that number at plus odds with highly favorable matchups against the Jets, Giants, Dolphins, Commanders, Lions (2), Bears (2), and Vikings (2) on this year’s docket, plus a handful of 50-50 games.

The Packers are listed as -185 favorites to win the NFC North, with Minnesota (+275), Chicago (+900), and Detroit (+900) all trailing by relatively steep margins; making Green Bay the third heaviest division favorite on the board, with the only divisions portraying clearer paths to the throne being Tampa Bay to win the NFC South (-300) and Buffalo to win the AFC East (-190).

The Packers and Rams are deadlocked at +500 to win the NFC, which only trails Tampa Bay (+325) for the best odds to win the conference; and while a Packers’ Super Bowl appearance is always fathomable as long as Rodgers is under center, there’s far too many question marks surrounding this team to warrant backing them at the same price as the defending champs.

Green Bay is listed at +1100 to win this year’s Super Bowl, making the Packers tied for fourth on the total pole alongside the Rams (+1100), which only trails the Bills (+650), Buccaneers (+750), and Chiefs (+900) for the best title odds on the board; and ranks just ahead of the Niners (+1400), Cowboys (+1600), Broncos (+1600), and Chargers (+1600).

Rodgers is listed at +900 to win his third straight MVP award, which is tied for the fourth-best odds on the board alongside Chargers’ Justin Herbert (+900); and while lightning typically doesn’t strike twice, let alone three times, fellow Packers’ legend Brett Favre won three straight MVP’s back in 1995-97, so the eager milestone-seeking part of my brain is tempted to back Rodgers to accomplish that same feat.

GREEN BAY PACKERS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (-450) | No (+330)

The Packers have won three consecutive NFC North titles, and I like them to win a fourth straight at -180 this season; however, Green Bay’s “To Make the Playoffs” line exacts a much heavier toll at -450, and while the Packers should ultimately reach the postseason with ease, I’d much rather back them to win the division at -185 or completely fall apart at +350, as opposed to paying -450 juice just in case Minnesota or Chicago win the NFC North and Green Bay still lands a Wild Card.
