2022 Houston Texans Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 HOUSTON TEXANS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Texans finished third in the AFC South with a record of 4-13 last season, which tied the Jets for the second-worst record in the league, and fell a considerable distance behind the division’s top contenders in the Colts (9-8) and Titans (12-5); despite edging the last-placed Jaguars by a slim one-game margin (3-14).

Despite their lackluster third-place finish, the Texans still wrapped up the season on a relatively high note, considering Houston split its last four matchups 2-2 SU and 3-1 ATS, which included a pair of double-digit victories over the Chargers (W, 41-29) and Jaguars (W, 30-16); and a strong losing effort against the top-seeded Titans (L, 28-25).

Houston’s offense was pretty underwhelming regardless of who was under center last year, highlighted by the Texans ranking 30th in scoring and 32nd in total yardage (16.5 PPG, 278 YPG); however, it typically doesn’t matter who’s playing quarterback when a team's defense surrenders 26+ PTS per game, it’s almost impossible to win games that way.

Best Bet: Texans Under 4.5 Wins (-120)

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 4.5 (-110)
  • Under 4.5 (-120)

The Texans win total is stationed at OU 4.5 with a slight lean towards the under at -120; and while I have Houston pinned for roughly six winnable contests with matchups against the Bears, Giants, Commanders, Dolphins, and Jaguars (2) on this year’s slate; I still like them to stay under that number after posting four victories in back-to-back seasons.

HOUSTON TEXANS ODDS TO WIN AFC SOUTH

+2500

Houston is listed at +2500 to win the AFC South, which is the worst odds given to any squad to win its division, with the closest comparisons being the Jets to win the AFC East (+1800) and the Falcons to win the NFC South (+1600); and while the Texans have virtually no chance of winning the AFC South this season, I’d much rather take my chances with the steeper longshot to win a division led by the Colts and Titans at +2500, as opposed to backing the Lions (+900) or Giants (+700) to win their respective divisions at worse price points.

HOUSTON TEXANS ODDS TO WIN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+12500

The Texans are listed at +12500 to win the AFC, which is the worst odds to win the conference by a considerable margin, with the Steelers (+4000), Jaguars (+5000), and Jets (+6600) being the only other AFC squads on the board given a steeper price tag than +2000; which is inherently disrespectful, yet still not worth taking a flier on.

HOUSTON TEXANS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+25000

The Texans are listed at +25000 to win this year’s Super Bowl, which is tied with Atlanta for the worst title odds on the board, more than doubling the odds of other bottom-tier squads like the Jaguars (+10000), Giants (+10000), Panthers (+12500), Lions (+12500), Jets (+12500), and Seahawks (+12500); however, none of these squads have a realistic shot at making a deep run.

HOUSTON TEXANS 2022 MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Davis Mills (QB) +8000

Texans’ second year QB Davis Mills is listed at +8000 to win this year’s MVP award, which is relatively generous ranking alongside Carson Wentz (+8000), Trevor Lawrence (+8000), and Justin Fields (+8000); while standing well above more tenured signal-callers such as Ryan Tannehill (+10000) and Jimmy Garoppolo (+10000), so even more reason to stay away here.

HOUSTON TEXANS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (+1425) | No (-3000)

The Texans listed at +1425 to make the playoffs, which almost certainly won’t happen; however, I’d much rather take a flier on Houston posting a decent campaign at +1425, as opposed to laying -3000 juice against a squad that played decent football down the homestretch last season (2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS).
