2022 Miami Dolphins Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 MIAMI DOLPHINS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Dolphins finished third in the AFC East with a record of 9-8 last season, falling just half-a-game short of Pittsburgh for the final Wild Card spot in the conference (9-7-1); however, Miami didn’t have its sights set on the playoffs for most of the year, as the Dolphins stumbled out to a miserable 1-7 start, which was followed by an impressive 8-1 run to close the season.

It’s natural to see upside in Miami heading into this season, considering the Dolphins went 8-4 with starting QB Tua Tagovailoa under center last year, and 1-4 without him; however, one could argue Tua’s status didn’t affect the outcome in most of those contests, as Miami posted losses to the Bills, Buccaneers, Colts, Raiders in his absence; and wins over the Panthers, Giants, Saints, and Jets (2) in his presence.

Miami was borderline top ten in the league defensively last season, as the Dolphins finished the year 15th in points allowed and 10th in yardage allowed per play (21.9 PPG, 5.3 YPP), while also forcing 1.5 turnovers per game; however, it’s tough to hold steady behind an offense that ranks 22nd in scoring and 29th in yardage per play (20.1 PPG, 4.8 YPP), but hopefully, All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill will provide a spark on that side of the ball.

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 8.5 (-140)
  • Under 8.5 (+110)

Miami’s win total is stationed at OU 8.5 with a moderate lean towards the over at -140; and despite the Dolphins going 9-8 without their starting QB in five contests last season, I still expect them to fall under that number at plus money due to a much tougher schedule, with matchups against the Packers, Bengals, Chargers, Ravens, Niners, Bills (2), and Patriots (2) crowding this year’s slate.

MIAMI DOLPHINS ODDS TO WIN AFC EAST

+400

The Dolphins and Patriots are deadlocked at +400 for the second-best odds to win the AFC East, which is somewhat of a steep drop off following the heavily favored Bills (-190), yet still paces the bottom dwelling Jets by a considerable margin (+1800); and while +400 is decent value in this spot, I’d rather roll the dice on New England as a middle-tier longshot to win the division.

MIAMI DOLPHINS ODDS TO WIN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+1600

The Dolphins are listed at +1600 to win the AFC, which is tied with Tennessee (+1600) for the ninth best odds to win the conference, bottoming out the middle-tiers alongside the Raiders (+2000) and Patriots (+2000) before dropping off to the distant longshots; however, Miami still strikes me as a squad belonging in the latter category.

MIAMI DOLPHINS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+3000

The Dolphins are listed at +3000 to win this year’s Super Bowl, which is centered in a middle-tier cluster containing the Browns (+2500), Colts (+2500), Eagles (+2500), Cardinals (+3000), Titans (+3000), Raiders (+4000), and Patriots (+4000); and while there’s certainly logic supporting the notion of a Miami upswing, I still believe the Dolphins’ ceiling much lower than some other squads in this category.

MIAMI DOLPHINS 2022 MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Tua Tagovailoa (QB) +5000

Tyreek Hill (WR) +15000

Jaylen Waddle (WR) +20000

Tagovailoa is listed alongside Kirk Cousins, Mac Jones, and Matt Ryan at +5000 to win this year’s MVP award, which is pretty far down the starting QB totem pole, but not quite at the bottom, with Jameis Winston (+6600), Trevor Lawrence (+8000), Carson Wentz (+800), Justin Fields (+8000), Zach Wilson (+10000), Daniel Jones (+10000), and Ryan Tannehill (+10000) all sitting below them on the board; which simply isn’t good value given the Dolphins’ offensive numbers, even if you’re expecting Miami’s offense to improve by leaps and bounds this season.

MIAMI DOLPHINS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (+140) | No (-170)

Despite their 8-1 run to close last season, the Dolphins finished third in the AFC East with a record of 9-8, which marks their fifth straight missed postseason, and the 12th time they’ve missed the playoffs across their last 13 campaigns; and while -170 is a bit steep under the expanded format, I’d still lean with Miami missing the playoffs in this spot.
