Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers Predictions
Score Prediction - Cowboys 34 Chargers 31
Justin Herbert is already making a name for himself as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Herbert was named the NFL Rookie of the Year last season, and he is off to a solid start in his second year. He threw for more than 300 yards in a win over Washington in Week 1, and he should have a big game against Dallas this Sunday.
The Chargers have three nice weapons in the passing game. Keenan Allen is one of the most underrated receivers in the league, and he caught nine passes for 100 yards last week. Mike Williams wasn’t far behind with eight catches for 82 yards and a touchdown, and Jared Cook remains a solid tight end to target over the middle.
Dallas only has one good defensive back. Trevon Diggs was very good in coverage last week against the Buccaneers, but the rest of the Cowboys’ defensive backs had a really tough time in man-to-man. That’s something Herbert can exploit this Sunday afternoon.
Dak Prescott should have a nice afternoon against this Chargers’ secondary. While Derwin James Jr. is one of the best young safeties in the league, Chris Harris Jr. is past his prime and Michael Davis isn’t anything special at the other cornerback position.
The Cowboys have arguably the best trio of receivers in the league. Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb shined last Thursday night, and we should see more out of Michael Gallup this week. Prescott does an excellent job finding the open target based on the coverage he sees, and the offensive line will have an easier time pass blocking than we saw against Tampa Bay.
The big question for Dallas revolves around Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott was ineffective in the season opener, averaging just 3.0 YPC as the Cowboys quickly abandoned the run. He should see more touches against the Chargers, but he has to be more efficient.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers Betting Analysis
Over is a great play in this game. Both Herbert and Prescott should have good games through the air, as they have the vision and weapons to throw for 300 yards and multiple touchdowns on Sunday. Dallas will squeak out the win though as the extra few days of preparation will play a role.
