The fifth weekend of regular-season NFL action will kick things off with the league’s first London Game of the year, as the New York Jets will square off against the Atlanta Falcons at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday morning. Coverage begins on NFL Network at 9:30 a.m. ET.

New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons Predictions

After posting a pair of ugly 20-point losses to open the year, Atlanta finally started to show some life in Week 3 against the Giants – as the Falcons escaped the Meadowlands with a narrow 17-14 victory for their first winning tally of the new season.

The Falcons’ defense failed to capitalize on any momentum built in that affair though, as Atlanta ended up surrendering 34 points on 412 total yards during their 34-30 loss to Washington this past Sunday (WSH -2).

On the other hand, New York stumbled out to a disastrous start with rookie Zach Wilson under-center – considering the Jets generated lowly averages of just 6.7 points on 250 total yards across their trio of losses to the Panthers, Patriots, and Broncos.

Wilson and company quickly turned things around in Week 4 though, as the Jets’ offense racked up 27 points on 355 total yards during the Jets’ thrilling victory over Tennessee this past Sunday (W, 27-24 OT).

I’ll take the points with New York here, as the Jets shouldn’t have trouble moving the ball against a Falcons’ defense ranked dead last in scoring and 26 th in yards per play (32 PPG, 6.1 YPP) – and New York’s stout defensive unit certainly won’t be a cakewalk for Matt Ryan’s offense either (23.5 PPG, 5.1 YPP).

The Falcons head into Sunday’s matchup favored by a field goal over the Jets – marking the first time Atlanta has been favored since getting stomped by the Eagles in Week 1 (L, 32-6).

The total for Sunday morning’s event is stationed around OU 45 at most shops, which would be the highest number set for a Jets game this year – and the lowest set for the Falcons.

After selecting Wilson with the second pick in the latest NFL draft, it’s safe to say that most weren’t expecting the Jets to flip the script immediately within the AFC East – but they should slowly get better throughout the year, and last week’s victory over the Titans was a massive benchmark for Robert Saleh and his young offense.

The largest factor playing into the Jets’ victory was their ability to limit turnovers, as New York turned the ball over seven times across the first three weeks of the season – and then turned it over just once against Tennessee last week.

The Jets have an excellent defensive unit too, considering New York currently rank 14th in scoring defense and 7th in yards allowed per play (23.5 PPG, 5.1 YPP) – so, as long as the offense limits its turnovers this week, I think the Jets have a good chance at nabbing their second win.

Atlanta Falcons Betting Analysis

Atlanta also enters Week 5 sitting at 1-3 – but to say the least, the Falcon’s slow start has been far less encouraging than New York’s.

Back in the Kyle Shanahan days, the Falcons used to get away with poor defensive play, as Atlanta’s offensive attack was typically enough juice to remain competitive in almost every game.

Things are much different for Atlanta now though, considering the Falcons’ offense currently ranks 25th in scoring and 27 th in yardage per play (19.5, 4.9 YPP) – which definitely won’t negate a defense ranking dead last in scoring and 26 th in yardage allowed per play (32 PPG, 6.1 YPP).

New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Conclusion

The Jets and Falcons both currently sit at 1-3, but their paths leading up to Sunday’s matchup in London skew in several directions. Atlanta’s lone win came in a low-scoring battle against the Giants, as the Falcons ended up escaping the Meadowlands with a 17-14 victory on a last-second boot from their kicker Younghoe Koo.

I’ll take the points with New York in this matchup though, as the Jets finally cleaned up their turnover issues and generated some points against a lower-level defense last week – which is why I’m also backing Wilson to toss two more touchdown passes in Sunday morning’s affair.
