Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers Predictions

After finishing last in the NFC West with a record of 6-10 last year, San Francisco stumbled out to a similarly disappointing start to the new season, as the Niners opened with losses in four of their first six games – with San Francisco’s only victories across that window coming against the Lions and Eagles.

The Niners have played solid football since their lackluster 2-4 start though, considering San Francisco enters Sunday’s contest following wins in three of the last four games – thumping the Bears, Rams, and Jaguars by an average margin of 17.3 PPG.

On the other hand, Minnesota also sputtered out to a slow start to the season, as the Vikings kicked things off with tight losses in three of their first four games – with Minnesota’s first three defeats coming by a narrow margin of 3.7 PPG.

Minnesota has played much better since starting 1-3 though, considering the Vikings enter Sunday’s contest following wins in four of their last six games – which includes impressive victories over the Chargers, Panthers, and Packers.

I’ll take the points with the Vikings here, as San Francisco’s defense has consistently struggled against the rush this year, currently allowing 115.9 YPG and 4.3 YPA – and Minnesota is an extremely dangerous squad when the run-game is churning.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 5-5
  • ATS: 6-4
  • O/U: 5-5
  • ATS - Home: 2-3
  • ATS - Away: 4-1

After posting an underwhelming 1-3 start to the season, the Vikings somewhat fell off the league’s radar for a few weeks, as Minnesota entered its next two matchups generously favored over bottom-tier opponents in the Lions and Panthers in Weeks 5 and 6.

With Week 12 now on the horizon, it seems like the oddsmakers are still yet to figure out Minnesota, considering the Vikings enter Sunday’s contest following victories in four of their last six games – despite getting tagged as underdogs in more than half of those affairs.

San Francisco 49ers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 5-5
  • ATS: 4-6
  • O/U: 5-5
  • ATS - Home: 1-4
  • ATS - Away: 3-2

After falling a field goal shy of topping Green Bay for a third straight victory to open the season (L, 30- 28), San Francisco drew another tough matchup in the Seahawks in Week 4 – and that’s when things noticeably took a downward turn, as QB Jimmy Garoppolo exited with a calf injury and turned over the keys to rookie Trey Lance for the remainder of the Niners’ second straight loss (L, 28-21).

Since Garoppolo’s return though, the Niners have remained incredibly inconsistent offensively – and while they still wield the potential to beat any team on any given night, it probably isn’t wise to lay points with San Francisco against quality opponents like the Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers Betting Conclusion

After posting solid back-to-back victories over L.A. and Green Bay, the Vikings will travel to San Francisco in Week 12 as a field-goal favorite over the Niners at Levi’s Stadium – marking the fourth straight game Minnesota has been an underdog in.

I’ll take the points with Minnesota here, as the Vikings have averaged 30.7 PPG across their latest three- game window – while San Francisco has proven far too inconsistent offensively to warrant trusting in tough matchups, having scored 18 PTS or less in three of the last six contests.
