Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Predictions

The Philadelphia Eagles are flustering opponents with their unique offense. Philadelphia runs its quarterback more than any other team, taking advantage of Jalen Hurts’ ability to make things happen with his legs. That has led to big wins in each of the last two weeks, and the Eagles are out to make it three in a row against the New York Giants.

It’s another dismal year for football in the Big Apple. The New York Giants haven’t won more than six games in a season since 2017, and it’s unlikely they get to seven wins this season. They are in last place in the AFC East and won’t be up to the task of taking down the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 5-6
  • ATS: 6-5
  • O/U: 6-5
  • ATS - Home: 2-3
  • ATS - Away: 4-2

Hurts has made Philadelphia’s offense tough to scheme against this season. Hurts should run for over 1,000 yards, and he is averaging 5.4 YPC with eight touchdowns. He has only been sacked 20 times because of his elusiveness, and he has done an excellent job protecting the ball with just six turnovers.

The Eagles are running well. Philadelphia runs the ball more than any other team in the NFL now, averaging 5.0 YPC and 153.4 YPG on the ground. Jordan Howard won’t play in this game with a knee injury, but Miles Sanders is back in the lineup and is averaging 5.0 YPC.

There are two big weapons in the passing game. Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith leads the Eagles with 46 receptions for 664 yards and four touchdowns, and tight end Dallas Goedert has 34 catches for 491 yards and two scores.

Philadelphia’s defense has not been great when it comes to getting to the quarterback. The Eagles rank 29th in sack rate, and Javon Hargrave leads the team with six sacks. Fletcher Cox and Derek Barnett are not the same difference makers they were in the past.

New York Giants Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-7
  • ATS: 5-5
  • O/U: 3-6-1
  • ATS - Home: 2-3
  • ATS - Away: 3-2

Daniel Jones was not good last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones completed 23 of 38 passes for 167 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Both turnovers were awful decisions, and it was bad to see that kind of a performance after a bye week. Jones has now thrown five touchdown passes and six interceptions in his last five games.

The decision to take Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft was widely questioned at the time, and it has looked even worse now that Barkley has been injured for most of the last two seasons. Barkley has run for just 220 yards and two touchdowns this year, averaging 3.7 YPC. He is questionable to play on Sunday due to an ankle injury, so Devontae Booker will get the start if he can’t go.

Three of the Giants’ best weapons in the passing game are unlikely to play against the Eagles. Sterling Shepard has been ruled out already, and both Kadarius Toney and Kyle Rudolph are considered doubtful. Kenny Golladay and Evan Engram will be the top targets this week in all likelihood.

Injuries have really affected the Giants’ defense too. Starting safeties Jabrill Peppers and Logan Ryan will both miss this game due to injury, and Blake Martinez is on injured reserve too. Rookie linebacker Azeez Ojulari has not had the impact that Big Blue was hoping for either.

The Giants have gone UNDER the point total in eight of its last nine home games. (AP)

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Betting Conclusion

Defenses have had a hard time stopping Hurts and the Eagles as he has improved over the course of the season, and the Giants will have too difficult of a time trying to do so on a short week.
