Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Football Team Predictions

After winning the NFC East with a record of 7-9 SU last year, Washington stumbled out to a much slower start to this season, as the Football Team opened with a rocky 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS skid – with four of those losses coming by 11+ PTS.

Washington briefly flipped the script after their opening stretch though, as the Football Team posted four straight upset victories over the Buccaneers, Panthers, Seahawks, and Raiders – before ultimately coasting into Week 17 riding a three-game losing streak, with two of those losses coming by double-digits in divisional matchups.

On the other hand, Philadelphia also posted an underwhelming start to the new season, as the Eagles kicked things off with a lackluster 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS skid – highlighted by their offense scoring 22 PTS or less in five of those contests (22.7 PPG).

Philadelphia has played well on both sides of the sticks since Halloween though, considering the Eagles sit at 6-2 SU and 5-2-1 ATS across the last eight games, with their offense averaging 29.9 PPG across that span – and their defense surrendering just 16.6 PPG across that same window.

I’ll lay the points with the Eagles here, as Philadelphia has played excellent football as of late, averaging 28.5 PPG on offense and surrendering 16.7 PPG on defense across the last six games – which should be a steep uphill battle for a Washington squad that has scored 20 PTS or less in five straight games (17 PPG).

Washington enters Sunday’s contest as 3.5-point underdogs against the visiting Eagles – marking the 12th straight game Ron Rivera’s squad has been an underdog in.

The total for Sunday’s affair is stationed around OU 45 at most shops, which marks the highest bar set for an Eagles’ game since the start of December.

After opening the season with a discouraging 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS skid, people quickly began to question whether Philadelphia made the right decision by cutting ties with Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz – as the Eagles scored 22 PTS or less in five of seven contests to start this year (22.7 PPG).

Jalen Hurts and company have quieted those concerns temporarily with excellent offensive play since Week 8 though, considering the Eagles are 6-2 SU across the last eight games – while averaging 29.9 PPG on 380 YPG across that timeframe.

Washington Football Team Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 6-9
  • ATS: 5-9-1
  • O/U: 7-8
  • ATS - Home: 2-5

After winning the NFC East with backup QB Taylor Heinicke at the helm, Washington was seemingly just one piece short from standing as a legitimate threat to Dallas for the division crown – and acted upon that notion quickly by bringing in veteran signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick on a one-year deal.

Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1, immediately springing Heinicke back into action, which is an adequate quick fix – but clearly isn’t a long-term solution, considering Washington has scored 17 PTS or less in half of Heinicke’s starts this year (7).

The Eagles are 5-1 SU and 4-1-1 ATS across the last six games. (AP)

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Football Team Betting Conclusion

After claiming a third straight double-digit victory last week, the Eagles enter Sunday afternoon’s contest as 3.5-point road favorites over Washington at FedExField – marking the seventh straight game Philly has been favored in.

I’ll lay the points with Philadelphia here, as Washington has scored 20 PTS or less in five straight games – which doesn’t bode well heading into a matchup against an Eagles squad that has scored 27 PTS or more and surrendered 20 PTS or less in five of the last six games.
