Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Jets Predictions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a 32-6 win over the Carolina Panthers which made them official champions of the NFC South. WR Antonio Brown made an immediate impact after missing three weeks, with 101 receiving yards on 10 catches. WR Mike Evans, RB Leonard Fournette, and WR Chris Godwin will be out again this week with injuries, but that should not be too much of a factor with the number of offensive weapons they have and going against a weak Jets defense.

The New York Jets were able to get a rare win last week, beating the Jaguars 26-21. Rookie QB Zach Wilson threw for 100 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 91 yards. An impressive victory for a team that had 20 players on the COVID list. While the Jets will have players returning back to action, this will be a much tougher matchup that I’m not sure they will be able to handle.

The Tampa Bay Bucs have clinched the NFC south, but all games remaining can help them with their seeding. I think the Bucs take care of business with a win plus cover in this matchup. The Jets still have a long way to go before they can hang around with Brady and the Bucs. Laying the points and taking Tampa Bay in this one.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-4
  • ATS: 8-7
  • O/U: 7-8
  • ATS - Away: 3-5

Tampa Bay has rewarded bettors as of late, going 5-1 ATS in their last six games. The Bucs have struggled covering on the road with a 3-5 record, as well as a 0-5 ATS record in their last five games on the road against the Jets. The total has gone under in five of their last seven games, and seven of the last eight when playing the Jets.

With Tom Brady running the show, it’s no surprise that the Bucs offense ranks as one of the best in the league. Entering this game, they are averaging 401.7 total YPG (2nd), 300 passing YPG (1st), 101.7 rushing YPG (25th), and 29.5 PPG (2nd). Even with missing three key offensive players last week the Bucs didn’t skip a beat. Expect that same thing to happen against a weak Jets defense.

The Bucs defense has also played extremely well on the year. Allowing 329.6 total PPG (10th), 242.1 passing YPG (21st), 87.5 rushing YPG (3rd), and 20.8 PPG (9th). Tampa Bay has created 26 turnovers on the season (16 INT, 10 FUM) while the Jets have given the ball up 26 times (20 INT, 6 FUM). Expect Tampa Bay to take advantage of this.

New York Jets Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-11
  • ATS: 5-10
  • O/U: 9-6
  • ATS - Home: 3-5

The Jets are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games. Going against this trend, they are 8-1 ATS in the last nine games played against Tampa Bay. The total has gone over in five of the last seven home games for New York, as well as going under in the last seven of eight when playing Tampa Bay.

New York was able to score 26 points and secure a victory last week against Jacksonville, but overall, the offense needs work headed into the off season. On the season they are averaging 318.7 total YPG (21st), 220.8 passing YPG (18th), 97.9 rushing YPG (26th), and 18.4 PPG (27th). Wilson will be without his three leading receivers for the second straight week. This will a much more difficult task than going up against Jacksonville’s defense.

With all due respect the Jets defense has been terrible this season. Entering this week, they are allowing 391.3 total YPG (32nd), 250 passing YPG (28th), 141.3 rushing YPG (30th), and 29.9 PPG (32nd). With how good the Bucs offense is I’m not sure the Jets defense will be able to hang around for very long in this one.

Tampa Bay has won five of its last six games. (AP)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Jets Betting Conclusion

After suffering many injuries against the Saints two weeks ago, the Buccaneers were able to regroup and figure things out with a 32-6 win against the Panthers. I expect this game to have very similar results. Even if the Jets offense manages to put some points on the board, the defense stands no chance stopping Brady and the offense. Laying the points and taking Bucs here.
