NFL Total Plays Week 12

Only two more bye weeks remain on the schedule which means at least a couple more Sunday games than we’ve seen in a while. That allows you a chance to find some totals that are worth playing for Week 12. Of course, it’s a little harder when you’re specifically looking for plays in that category. Here’s hoping these picks go as well as Thursday’s sweep on those three opinions.

  • Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Under 36 (-110)
  • Kansas City Chiefs Team Total Over 28.5 Points (-110)
  • New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers Over 43 (-110)

NFL contracts can be complicated legal documents, but it doesn’t matter how intricately the Broncos’ deal with Russel Wilson is structured, they overpaid for the results so far. Unless you believe $15 million per victory is a great deal. Oh, and Seattle’s tied for first without him. Carolina has covered four of its last five, which all came after trading its best player.

There’s only so low the house can go with a total before the balance of activity increases the book’s risk and if this number doesn’t change it’ll be the lowest over/under of the season. The Broncos have scored 16 or less in four of their last five and the 22 they allowed the Raiders were the most in that span. Carolina has seen four of its last five home games stay under the number and it looks like it’ll be raining for this one.

Taking the points against the defending Super Bowl champion has usually produced good results. This year Los Angeles is taking that to a whole new level as they’re losing both ATS and on the field.  Kansas City took a big step in separating themselves from the rest of the AFC West with last week’s win against the other team from So Cal.

The Chiefs covered a team total over for these plays last week, so why not come right back with them? That win was a tough division game against a decent Chargers team and that adjective isn’t being used to describe the Rams this year. The total is this one opened at 44 which is Kansas City’s lowest total of the season. In three of their last four, L.A. has allowed 27 or more while the home team has reached that same number in five of their last seven at Arrowhead.

It’s hard to imagine that a team with a record of 4-7 could have a big game on their schedule. That’s the NFC South this year, which may see an 8-9 team take the title. A win here and New Orleans would have as many wins as the Bucs and Falcons had when the week started. The 49ers are rolling. They’ve won three in a row and the other NFC teams need to be worried about how well that new guy from Carolina is fitting into their system.

New Orleans put up 27 against the Rams last week and in six of their last eight, they’ve scored 24 or more. They’ve allowed 20-plus in every single road game this year including the Steelers and Panthers. The 49ers’ defense has been solid as always so most of the points needed to cash the over in this over will have to come from San Francisco. Hopefully, that shouldn’t be an issue since that guy they couldn’t trade has the fifth-best quarterback rating in the league, completes two-thirds of his passes, and has 15 touchdowns to only four interceptions.
