Betting on the Buffalo Bills
Anchoring the upstate region of New York, the Buffalo Bills have a large legion of fans throughout the state. The Bills usually are also one of the more popular betting teams in the Empire State during the NFL season.
Buffalo Bills Overview
As the third NFL franchise in New York, the Bills’ team origin can be traced back to 1960 as a member of the American Football League. Buffalo joined the NFL in 1970 following the official merger with the AFL.
Prior to the 1970 season, the Bills won the 1964 and 1965 AFL Championship Games. These championship runs preceded the start of the Super Bowl era which started in 1966.
The NFL’s annual Super Bowl in general remains a sore subject among the diehard Buffalo Bills’ fans. With Marv Levy as head coach and Jim Kelly starting at quarterback, the Bills qualified for the Super Bowl from 1990 through the 1993 season by winning the AFC title four years in a row.
The Bills then went on to lose all four consecutive Super Bowls to set a dubious record that will probably never be broken.
More recently, a revitalized Buffalo franchise with Josh Allen at quarterback has gone deep in the NFL playoffs year after year. Yet, once again the Bills came up short in losses to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
You could probably add the Chiefs to the list of bitter Buffalo rivals. Playing in the AFC East, the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins remain at the top of that list. Betting the Bills as home favorites against any of those teams remains a popular option.
If Buffalo is listed as a three-point home favorite at Highmark Stadium against New England, the Bills would have to win that game by four or more points to cash a winning bet.
