CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCHDAY 4 ODDS & PREDICTIONS

The 2020-21 UEFA Champions League group stages continue this week with Matchday 4 action and there will be 16 games scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 24 and Wednesday Nov. 25.

After the Matchday 3 action, the oddsmakers have adjusted the future odds on all 32 clubs.

Along with eight top-rated selections for Matchday 4 below, I've also added my score predictions for the 16 games.

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH VS. SHAKHTAR DONETSK

SCORE PREDICTION: BORUSSIA MÖNCHENGLADBACH 3 SHAKHTAR DONETSK 1

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE AT 4/7

Borussia Monchengladbach scored a stunning 6-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk in the reverse fixture.

However, the German side will still be wary of the Ukrainians’ threat: Shakhtar won 3-2 at Real Madrid on the opening matchday and an entertaining game should be in store.

Borussia lost 4-3 to Bayer Leverkusen in their last Bundesliga game while Shakhtar’s games in the Ukrainian league have generally been high scoring - they have scored five more goals than anyone in the league.

The bookies have perhaps slightly overreacted to the result in the reverse fixture, but both teams scoring at 4/7 looks a safe enough bet.

AJAX VS. MIDTJYLLAND

SCORE PREDICTION: AJAX 3 MIDTJYLLAND 0

TIP: AJAX -1.5 AT 5/6

Ajax won 2-1 in the reverse fixture in Denmark and this game should be more comfortable.

The Dutch champions have been free-scoring in the Eredivisie recently, particularly a staggering 13-0 win away to VVV Venlo. They have scored 20 goals in their five home league games, scoring five three times.

Midtjylland were torn apart by Atalanta in their first game, and while they put in a more respectable display away to Liverpool, they are finding their maiden Champions League season tough.

Ajax should be comfortable.

INTER MILAN VS. REAL MADRID

SCORE PREDICTION: INTER MILAN 2 REAL MADRID 2

TIP: OVER 2.5 GOALS AT 4/6

The reverse fixture between these two was a cracker with Real winning 3-2 after Inter had come from 2-0 down to equalise, and this affair at the San Siro should be similar.

Inter are much more leaky defensively than most past Antonio Conte sides. Real and Inter both drew 2-2 with Mönchengladbach while Real lost 3-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Real also lost 4-1 to Valencia last time out and so there should be chances for Inter.

That said, Inter have lacked bottle in Europe in recent years and they cannot be backed at anything like 21/20.

A goalfest is the safe bet.

MARSEILLE VS. FC PORTO

SCORE PREDICTION: FC PORTO 1 MARSEILLE 0

TIP: FC PORTO TO WIN AT 29/20

Porto have been very impressive so far.

They took the lead at Manchester City before losing 3-0, but followed it up with back to back home wins, 2-0 against Olympiacos and 3-0 against Marseille.

They look very appealing at 29/10 to all but guarantee qualification with a win at the Stade Vélodrome.

Marseille have lost all their games so far without scoring and they were truly terrible away to Porto.

Their defence is leaky and Porto can take advantage.

TUESDAY, NOV. 24, 2020

RENNES VS. CHELSEA

SCORE PREDICTION: CHELSEA 2 RENNES 0

TIP: CHELSEA TO WIN TO NIL AT 21/10

Chelsea’s excellent run continued with a convincing 2-0 win at Newcastle at the weekend, and at 21/10 they look value to be victors at Rennes while keeping a clean sheet.

The reverse fixture was hard to judge, with Chelsea going 2-0 up with two penalties and a Rennes red card before winning 3-0.

The French side hung in well and reduced the Blues to few big chances, but they have since hit some bad league form. They have lost their last three matches, most recently a 1-0 home loss to Bordeaux.

Thiago Silva will return to Chelsea’s backline which is looking far stronger than last year. It won’t be a thrashing, but Chelsea should win.

KRASNODAR VS. SEVILLA

SCORE PREDICTION: KRASNODAR 1-2 SEVILLA

TIP: SEVILLA TO WIN AT 3/5

Sevilla only edged past Krasnodar at home but the Andalusian side are on a good run of form and should make things a little easier in Russia.

They were extremely impressive in a 4-2 win over Celta Vigo last time out and have a good away record in the past year.

Krasnodar have not been embarrassed in their maiden Champions League outing (their 4-0 defeat against Chelsea was not a fair reflection of the match), but they are defensively leaky and show no signs of competing for the Russian league this year.

LAZIO VS. ZENIT ST PETERSBURG

SCORE PREDICTION: LAZIO 2 ZENIT ST PETERSBURG 2

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE AT 8/11

Lazio have been leaky defensively this year, conceding three to Torino and Sampdoria and four to Atalanta.

Zenit travel to Rome needing to win, so this could be a very open game and 8/11 on both teams scoring must be value. Zenit are the highest scoring team in Russia this season and won 3-1 at Krasnodar not long ago.

Lazio’s home games tend to be goal fests, and they played boldly in their win against Borussia Dortmund.

This will be an entertaining affair.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN VS. RB LEIPZIG

SCORE PREDICTION: PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN 1 RB LEIPZIG 1

TIP: RB LEIPZIG OR DRAW AT 11/8

PSG knocked RB Leipzig out in last year’s semi-finals, but Leipzig exacted some revenge by winning the return fixture.

This is a huge game for PSG.

They need to win - elimination would be a huge embarrassment for them - but Leipzig have improved defensively this year and can get the point they need to put themselves in a good position to qualify.

At 8/15 PSG cannot be backed. They lost 3-2 to Monaco at the weekend having been 2-0 up.

Leipzig have a terrible performance in them, as demonstrated by their 5-0 loss at Manchester United, but their form is generally good and at 11/8 they are a nice bet to avoid defeat.
