The 2022 World Cup knockout stage will wrap up Tuesday as Portugal and Switzerland square off for the last spot in the quarterfinals. The winner will face either Spain or Morocco.

Portugal's stacked squad should fancy their chances of meeting either Spain or Morocco in the quarterfinal. However, this is an Os Navegadores side that conceded four goals (3.91xGA) in three Group H displays, rarely appearing as formidable at the back despite the impressive personnel along the backline.

A 2-1 score at +850 odds is one to consider, with Switzerland getting some joy in the match. Along the same trail of thought, but with the Portuguese needing longer than 90 minutes to clinch the win, a 1-1 draw come the final whistle presents an interesting angle into the match at +600.

Group H's winners rested and rotated against South Korea, falling to a 2-1 defeat. However, with the Round of 16 firmly in their sights, the big boys will be back populating the starting line-up for the Swiss knockout clash. 

Record goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo should fend off any efforts from others in the squad to lead his nation out on Tuesday night, while Bruno Fernandes and Joao Felix possess quality in abundance to cause a Switzerland wobble as the knockouts click into gear.

The 1.29xG against South Korea was Portugal's lowest expected goals total in Qatar so far, a nod towards the wealth of options going forward. Successfully tap into that, and Fernando Santos' Portugal could make their -110 price to win somewhat of a steal.

Switzerland Betting Outlook & Players to Watch

Xherdan Shaqiri, now plying his trade in the United States after an impressive career in Europe, plundered his 27th goal for his country in the pivotal victory over Serbia.

It should be Breel Embolo and Ruben Vargas in offensive areas for Switzerland, who can each pack a punch in their own right. Adding a steeliness to midfield is Premier League duo Freuler and Xhaka, whilst Akanji and Schar make up the numbers in central defense.

In short, this is a well-rounded Switzerland side equipped with firepower and defensive-minded options playing at the highest level domestically. Grabbing the win may be a step too tall for the Swiss, but don't be surprised to see them register on the scoresheet and give Portugal as good as they get.
