Soccer’s World Cup returned in 2022. This time-honored international competition takes place in Qatar from Nov 21 through Dec. 18. Following the Group Stage, the traditional Knockout Round of the top 16 teams took place early in December.

This phase of the World Cup competition has pared the remaining field down to the final four teams. The World Cup Semifinals will set the stage for the final championship match on the last day of competition. Given the single-elimination aspect of the Knockout Round, anticipation for which two teams reach the finals is already running high.

The short list of favorites to advance to the World Cup Semifinals included Brazil, France, England and Spain. However, a few of the other top contenders to watch were Argentina and Germany. You could also add Portugal, Belgium, and the Netherlands to an expanded list of the best soccer teams in the world.

In fact, only France and Argentina made it to the semifinals. This year's greatest surprise was Morocco, which reached the last four along with World Cup 2018 finalist Croatia.

World Cup Semifinals Fixtures & Odds

The World Cup Semifinals fixtures are determined by the results of the previous matches. However, speculation for which four teams advance to that round was tied to the World Cup futures odds.
