Greektown Casino-Hotel Gets Brand New Name as well as Brand New Amenities

There is big news this week when it comes to Michigan betting! One of the largest casinos in the state — as well as one of the big three in the Motor City — has undergone a major rebranding. As of May 1, 2022, the Greektown Casino-Hotel has a brand new name.

The Greektown Casino-Hotel is dropping its hyphen as well as half its name and will now be known as the Hollywood Casino at Greektown. After receiving approvals from regulators, the name change has taken effect at the beginning of the month. The name change is part of a strategy from the owner of the casino, Penn National Gaming, Inc.

Penn National Gaming made the move to bring the casino under its Hollywood Casino branding. The general manager of Hollywood Casino at Greektown, John Drake, indicated that the rebranding is looking to find synergy between Greektown’s neighborhood charm and the amenities available as a Penn National Gaming company. So, this means casino goers can expect to see new amenities in the casino that they can enjoy.

These amenities include a renovation to the lobby of the hotel to the tune of $30 million. This will add a cocktail bar to the lobby area. In addition to redesigning the hotel lobby, each of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites will also be seeing a redesign as well. These renovations will be taking place in the next coming months.

In addition, the newly named Hollywood Casino at Greektown will also be getting new drink lounges. The casino will additionally be getting a Detroit Taco Company location. And, the hotel will be receiving a brand new menu curated by steakhouse chef Petro Drakopoulos.

In addition, casino customers will also have brand new payment options available to fund their bets. These options will not require any credit card or cash. Additionally, there will be updates made to the VIP parking garages as well as the self-park area in the casino.

To celebrate the exciting new name change, there will be a couple of red-carpet themed private VIP events and community special events. These will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
