Creighton will host the Friars as a 10-point home favorite in this Big East tilt with the total line set at 145.5 points.

Providence has lost its last three games straight-up to fall to 3-4 in Big East play. It has a 4-3 record against the spread with the total going OVER in five of the seven games.

Including a two-point home loss to Creighton on Jan. 2, the Friars have lost four of their last five games in this matchup SU. After covering as four-point underdogs, they are 5-2 ATS over the last seven meetings.

The total has gone OVER in Providence’s last five road games. Creighton’s SU six-game winning streak ended this past Saturday with a four-point loss to Butler as a seven-point road favorite. It has failed to cover in five of eight conference games this season.

The total has stayed UNDER in four of the last five outings. The total has stayed UNDER in 10 of the Bluejays’ last 13 games against Providence.

Providence has dropped the first two games of this current four-game road trip SU to Xavier and Marquette. It trailed by nine points at the half in last Tuesday’s 10-point loss to Marquette.

Center Nate Watson scored 18 points in the losing cause while going 7-for-8 from the floor. He was on the injury list but upgraded to probable for Wednesday’s game. Guard AJ Reeves (9.2 points) remains questionable at this time.

Guard David Duke leads the team in scoring with 19.9 points per game while connecting on 46.9% of his three-point attempts. The Friars are averaging 74.2 PPG and shooting 45.2% from the field. This drops to 32.8% from three-point range.

Defensively, Providence is allowing an average of 71.9 PPG with 34.7 rebounds.

Creighton’s overtime loss to Butler is even more upsetting after blowing a 13-point lead with less than eight minutes to play. The lone bright spot was Denzel Mahoney’s season-high 29 points.

The senior guard leads the team in scoring with 15.9 PPG while shooting 42.8% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. Guard Marcus Zegarowski is the second-leading scorer with 14.1 points a game but he remains questionable with a strained hamstring.

The Bluejays have five players averaging at least 10 PPG as part of their 81.9-point scoring average. They are converting on 49.4 % of their shots from the field while shooting 38% from beyond the three-point line.Of the team’s 37.2 rebounds a game, almost all are on defense. Creighton has a points-allowed average of 69.0 a game.

Providence-Creighton Predictions

Getting stuck with four road games in a row is a tough draw for the Friars especially with Villanova next on the schedule. Each of these teams come in a bit banged up, but Creighton still has a significant advantage in overall talent and depth. After surviving a close call in the season series opener on the road, I have Creighton covering the current spread at home on Wednesday.

Looking at the injury list for each team, this could turn into more of a defensive battle than expected. Each team is giving up quite a few points on that end of the court but I still have the total staying UNDER what I see as an inflated betting line.
