Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida State Best Bet

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell is heading into the 2025 season firmly on the hot seat after turning in a disastrous 2-10 campaign last season.

However, there should be plenty of reason for optimism for FSU fans and backers as Norvell completely revamped this roster in the transfer portal.

Starting on the offense, the Seminoles will be breaking in a familiar QB for ACC fans: former BC quarterback Thomas Castellanos. Castellanos is undersized and has some limitations throwing the ball, but his mobility is a game-changer. He'll be alongside former Bama running back Roydell Williams, who missed last year due to injury.

On the defensive side of the ball, Tony White will be breaking in his 3-3-5 defensive scheme that often confused opposing offenses and generated solid units at Nebraska and Syracuse.

On the other side, Alabama will also be trotting out a new quarterback of their own in Ty Simpson. He'll be without his running back Jam Miller, who is expected to miss the first month of the season due to a broken collarbone.

The strength of this Alabama team comes from the other side of the ball. The Crimson Tide's defense ranked 10th in points per game allowed last season, which is returning a remarkable ten starters. Corner Domani Jackson, linebacker Deontae Lawson and defensive lineman LT Overton are all viewed as potential high draft picks.

Although Bama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is known to chuck the ball around, I expect the Crimson Tide to slow this game down, lean on a solid offensive line and let their defense do the heavy lifting here. FSU has the potential to be pesky here, but with so much roster turnover, it's going to take some time to gel.

Can Florida State beat Alabama?

Although Alabama is a big favorite, absolutely! Anything can happen in college football. FSU is coming off a really disappointing season and will surely be chomping at the bit to remedy a brutal 2024 campaign. They'll take on a first-time starting QB in Ty Simpson as the Doak will surely be rocking.
