Texas vs Arkansas are two teams that probably wish they wouldn't be playing each other this early in the season. Both are coming off 1-0 starts and it's clear this should be a relatively competitive game. Texas started off their season with a 20-point victory over No. 23 Louisiana. While I had some concerns about what Texas would do post-Sam Ehlinger, it seems like they are going to be just fine moving forward. The offense, especially star running back Bijan Robinson, performed well by rushing 20 times for 108 yards and a touchdown.
Arkansas took down Rice in a much less glamorous setting. While they did win by 21 points, their starting quarterback KJ Jefferson struggled by only throwing for 128 yards on 21 attempts with a touchdown and an interception. Most of their damage was done on the ground with leading back Trelon Smith rushing 22 times for 102 yards and a touchdown, Jefferson with 89 yards and two touchdowns, and Sanders with 44 yards on seven carries. This team is going to run the ball down defensive throats, but they will struggle when trailing forcing them to throw the ball.
I luckily got in at bet at Texas -6 at the beginning of the week but now the best available number is -6.5. I would play up to -7. I think this Arkansas team is really going to be put to the test in a game where they are going against a well coached Texas team that answered a lot of questions. Rookie quarterback Hudson Card was impressive in his first start and I think this Texas team is definitely good enough to win by a at least a score.

Both teams start out the season 1-0 SU and 1-0 ATS. Texas is coming into this game with a good record against the spread, covering four of its last six games. I think the coaching difference with Steve Sarkisian will show, and expect the offense to be exciting by throwing a lot of things at the mediocre Arkansas defense. Arkansas struggled out the gate against Rice, and that's not something they can afford to do this week. Give me Texas -6.5 and don't mind a sprinkle on the Texas first half spread. Should be a good weekend for Longhorns fans.
