Neither of these teams have gotten off to the start they envisioned, but hope is far from lost this early. Louisiana notably lost in Week 1 against Texas, but bounced back in Week 2 against Nicholls. Ohio has started off 0-2, with losses against Syracuse and Duquesne. Both of these teams are looking to get their seasons turned around in a major way.

Louisiana is the clear favorite coming into this game, but they haven't been particularly impressive thus far (beating Nicholls by only a couple points). People all over the board predicted Louisiana upsetting Texas in Week 1 ,but we already feel far away from those days.

This season, Louisiana has only committed one turnover while the Ohio defense has yet to force any turnovers. It's very hard to win games against legitimate opponents when you lose the turnover battle. That's definitely something to keep a close eye on this weekend. Both of these teams have not had the best defense in the world either, with Ohio giving up 28.5 points per game and Louisiana giving up 31.0 points per game so far.

Neither of these teams have been good against the spread recently. The Bobcats are 1-5 over their last six games while the Ragin’ Cajuns are 5-11, neither team a dependable bet. This is a tough choice. I like Louisiana but I've been really disappointed with what I’ve seen so far. After not covering versus Nicholls last week, I'll go with Ohio at +20.5. I'm not necessarily excited to bet on this game, but if you have to then take the points.

I touched on both of these teams' recent struggles against the spread, but I think it's important to highlight. Louisiana probably will end up winning this game, but covering a 20-point spread is a completely different task.

They were just in this situation last game and failed to cover against a college I've never heard of before. Ohio isn't a great team and haven't really given me any reason to bet them thus far, but there are just way too many points on the table. Not my most confident handicap in the world, these two teams have been really ugly to start.
