Washington State comes in looking to move above .500 and finish the season strong, possibly with a winning record. Washington State will host Arizona at 9:00 p.m. ET Friday night on the Pac-12 Network.

Arizona Wildcats vs. Washington State Cougars Predictions

The season has been over for the Wildcats yet here they are playing hard despite having only one win. The problem for Arizona in this particular game will be stopping WSU’s passing attack. It’s why Arizona won’t be able to keep up, and will be on the wrong side of a blowout loss.

The Cats fought hard and played well in their loss to Utah, but it’s hard to sustain each week for a bad team. Arizona doesn’t have much going for them except they’ve played teams close in more than half of their losses. The reality is WSU is simply the better team, by a mile.

You can throw all over Arizona and make no mistake, that’s the game plan for Washington State. The Cats just give up yards in the air, and 200 seems more like a floor than a ceiling for opposing QBs. WSU’s QB Jayden De Laura should have plenty of time against a mediocre pass rush.

The run game isn’t much better, just two backs carry the majority of the workload. Drake Andersonhas just 267 yards on 73 attempts, and Michael Wiley with 251 yards on 79 attempts. Stanley Berryhill III leads the team – by a wide margin – with 595 yards off 68 grabs, but just one TD on the year. No player on Arizona has more than two receiving TDs.

Hard to ignore the Wildcats record ATS when they’ve only won one game, but this is not sustainable on any platform. Arizona just can’t move the ball like Washington State can and falling behind will be the final nail in the Wildcats’ coffin.

Because Arizona will struggle to score, we can continue to favor the under, especially with Washington State being able to run out the clock in the second half. The 15 points may seem like a trap for WSU, but don’t be fooled, the trap is believing Arizona can compete.
