ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE vs. TEXAS LONGHORNS BETTING PREDICTION

The Crimson Tide barely broke a sweat last weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, easily easing by visiting Utah State by a 55-0 count. Alabama covered a 41.5-point number, and actually led 41-0 at halftime before calling off the dogs. The only people who were disappointed by the performance were OVER bettors, who needed 63 points. Alabama led 55-0 after 45 minutes, and that's how the game finished.

Defending Heisman Trophy winner QB Bryce Young completed 18-of-28 passes for 195 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing for 100 yards and a score, serving as Bama's leading yard gainer on the ground. Methinks he'll face a much stiffer resistance at the DKR on Saturday afternoon.

Texas had an equally easy game in the opener against Louisiana-Monroe last weekend, posting a 52-10 victory while covering a spread of 36.5 points. And like Alabama, OVER bettors were left disappointed, as the UNDER just came in below the 64-point number.

Texas posted 134 yards on the ground while going for 249 yards through the air. The kicking game was a little off, with just one of two field goals converted, while the turnover margin was even. Former Ohio State recruit QB Quinn Ewers completed 16-of-24 passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while Texas rushed for three scores.

Score Prediction: Alabama 41, Texas 24

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE BETTING ANALYSIS

The Tide lose tons of talent to the NFL, and instead of having a down year, pardon the pun, they just reload and keep on rolling. The Tide rolled over Utah State, a decent mid-level Mountain West team, and Young took a big step forward toward joining Ohio State's Archie Griffin as the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in college football history.

The Tide has covered the past four games when stepping outside of the SEC, while going 9-4 ATS in the previous 13 games played on a fieldturf surface.

History is not necessarily on the side of Bama, if you're looking at the all-time series record. Texas leads Alabama 7-1-1, although the Tide won the most recent meeting on Jan. 7, 2010, which just happened to be for all of the marbles in an epic BCS Championship Game at the Rose Bowl. Prior to that meeting, these teams hadn't met since New Year's Day 1982 at the Cotton Bowl. The most recent regular-season meeting was 1922 in Austin, so this is a rare meeting, although these teams will lock horns, again, pardon the pun, when Texas joins the SEC in a few seasons.

For totals, Alabama has cashed the UNDER at a 6-2-1 clip across the past nine non-conference tilts, while going 4-1 in the past five games overall, including the regular-season opener against USU last week. The OVER is 14-4 in Bama's past 18 games in the month of September, while going 5-1 in the past six against a Big 12 foe.

TEXAS LONGHORNS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Longhorns covered last week's game against ULM, and they're now 7-1 ATS in the past non-conference outings, while going 4-1 ATS in the past five games played in the month of September.

The UNDER has hit at a 6-1 clip in the past seven games overall for Texas, including last week's opener, while the UNDER is 35-16 in the past 51 games following a cover in the previous outing.

The OVER is 5-2 in the past seven September games for the 'Horns, while going 7-3 in the past 10 games outside of the conference. The OVER is also 4-1 in the past five for Texas following a straight-up win. It's likely we'll see Young and Alabama move the ball quite a bit more than ULM did last week. Captain Obvious, much?
