The 3M Open, a PGA Tour event held July 21–27, 2025, at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, is a thrilling tournament on a 7,431-yard, par-71 Arnold Palmer-designed course known for its 27 water hazards, large bentgrass greens, and birdie-friendly layout that still punishes mistakes.
With an expected $8.1 million purse (based on 2024’s $1.4 million winner’s share), the 156-player field features stars like Max Homa, Tony Finau, and Sam Burns, rewarding precision in approach shots and putting.
Here are my best bets for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities:
Maverick McNealy – Outright Winner (+2000)
McNealy has quietly become one of the more consistent performers on Tour, and TPC Twin Cities looks like a perfect spot for him to finally break through. He’s never missed a cut at this event, with finishes of T3, T49, and T16—all while gaining strokes both off the tee and around the green each time. His recent form shows that consistency is still intact, with finishes of T23, T22, T17, and a T5 over his last five starts. Statistically, he continues to do all the right things: 38th in strokes gained off the tee and 31st in putting—two areas that tend to separate contenders from the pack here. He’s more accurate than most with the driver and knows how to avoid the water that defines so many holes at TPC Twin Cities. At 20/1, you're getting a well-rounded player on a course where he’s repeatedly shown he can contend. This feels like a real opportunity for him to grab his first win.
Akshay Bhatia – Outright Winner (+4000)
Bhatia might not have the bomber profile that typically gets hyped, but he brings a surgical skill set that fits TPC Twin Cities really well. He finished T64 in his lone appearance here, but that was before his game leveled up. Now, he’s in the midst of a strong stretch—T30, T26, T54—and more importantly, he’s gained strokes on approach in six straight events. That’s key on this course, where dialed-in irons can separate players from the pack. He ranks 16th in strokes gained approach and 21st in putting—an ideal combo for scoring on a layout that rewards precision. He’s also 9th in putts per hole, showing he's converting chances when he gets them. While he doesn't hit it particularly far, his 49th-ranked driving accuracy and ability to keep the ball in play will serve him well on a course that can punish wild misses with water lurking everywhere. At 40/1, he’s a strong value play with real upside.
Andrew Putnam – To Make the Cut (-137)
Putnam feels like one of the more under-the-radar value plays to make the cut this week. He’s had mixed results at TPC Twin Cities: two missed cuts, but also a T19 and T11 in his last two appearances, both with positive strokes gained overall. His recent form backs it up too, with finishes of T11, T8, and T6 in three of his last five starts. What makes Putnam so appealing here is his accuracy and short game. He ranks 6th in driving accuracy and 3rd in scrambling, with an impressive 68.2% save rate. He’s also 15th in strokes gained putting and 37th in scrambling from the rough—key stats for navigating a course with plenty of trouble around the greens. He doesn’t have much distance off the tee, but that’s not a major issue at a track like this. He keeps the ball in play, has a sharp short game, and is putting well, exactly the kind of profile you want for a safe cut-maker.
Sahith Theegala – To Miss the Cut (+137)
As much as Theegala is a fan favorite and potential star, this just doesn’t feel like the right spot for him. He’s missed the cut in three of four starts at TPC Twin Cities, with only a T6 standing out as the exception. Add in the fact that he’s returning from a neck injury, and last week at The Open was his first event since June 1—and the case for a miss starts to build. He lost 2.26 strokes to the field at Royal Portrush and never looked comfortable. Statistically, the red flags continue: he ranks 146th in driving accuracy and has struggled badly with his approach game in recent months. On a course where water comes into play on over half the holes and precise tee shots are critical, Theegala’s loose driving could easily get him in trouble early. There’s too much volatility and rust to trust him this week. At +137, the price is right to fade.
Taylor Pendrith – To Miss the Cut (+225)
Pendrith’s power off the tee is always eye-catching, but that alone won’t be enough to get him through four rounds at TPC Twin Cities. He’s missed the cut here before and while he did finish T5 in one appearance, the overall profile just doesn’t inspire confidence. He ranks 96th in driving accuracy, 147th in scrambling, and 106th in strokes gained putting, all concerning numbers on a course that demands precision and punishes mistakes with water lurking on nearly every hole. His recent form is a mixed bag, with a missed cut last week and middling finishes (T13, T25, T38, T27) before that. Pendrith’s strength is his distance, but with narrow landing areas and a need to grind out pars when greens are missed, his flaws around the green and on the putting surface become liabilities. At +225, there’s real value in betting on those weaknesses being exposed again this week.
