2025 U.S. Open Odds: Burns Still Favorite Entering Final Round

U.S. Open odds for the 2025 tournament are heating up, as the third major heads to the fourth round. Slightly surprising: Scottie Scheffler is very unlikely to be a factor on Sunday.
Scheffler is tied for 11th, and although he's the seventh choice in odds to win the U.S. Open, those odds are +5000. Sam Burns is still in the lead and still the favorite.

2025 U.S. Open Odds
Feel The Burns
UPDATE 9 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Sam Burns shot a steady 1-under 69 today for a 4-under 206 total. He's got a one-shot lead, and The SuperBook has Burns the +160 favorite in U.S. Open futures odds.
Those prescient enough to take Burns pre-tournament could've had him at +8000.
"Burns had a near-win in Canada last week, so he had some momentum coming in," SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman said, alluding to Burns' playoff loss to Ryan Fox in the Canadian Open. "We saw moderate action on Burns. But he is a solid position for us in the outrights."
Adam Scott shot 3-under 67 for a 3-under 207 total. Scott is the +300 second choice at The SuperBook. J.J. Spaun (69) is also at 207 and is the +350 third choice.
"Scott closed 150/1 pre-tournament. There are six tickets on him at that number and a handful at lower numbers. He saw some support at 16/1 going into Saturday," Sherman said.
Scott is the only golfer among the top 10 with a major title to his credit, but it was a dozen years ago, at the 2013 Masters. His best recent finish in a major was fourth at the 2018 PGA Championship.
Like Scott, Viktor Hovland is at least something of a brand name near the top. Hovland shot even-par 70 today for a 1-under 209 total. He's solo fourth on the leaderboard and +600 on the U.S. Open odds board.
"Hovland is our smallest positive position of the leaders. He saw decent support at 60/1, including a $400 ticket, and he closed 50/1 pre-tournament. He had steady support after Rounds 1 and 2," Sherman said.
Unheralded Carlos Ortiz is in the mix, as well. Ortiz shot 67 today and is fifth at even-par 210. He's shot 6 under par over his last 27 holes, after a front-nine 5-over 40 in the second round.
So what's The SuperBook angling for on Sunday?
"Our best outcomes are J.J. Spaun or Carlos Ortiz, or even Thriston Lawrence or Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen," Sherman said. "We still have liability on Scheffler, who sits at 50/1. Hovland is a small winner, so we're not ideal on him in relation to the others at the top of the leaderboard."
Lawrence (70) and Neergaard-Petersen (69) have work to do, though, sitting at 211 and 212 respectively. And Scheffler has even more work, eight shots off the pace at 214.

UPDATE 10:45 P.M. ET FRIDAY: Sam Burns surged 32 spots up the leaderboard Friday, shooting 3-under 67 to stand solo first with a 3-under 137 total. Correspondingly, The SuperBook made Burns the +300 favorite in U.S. Open futures odds.
Viktor Hovland shot 2-under 68 Friday for a 1-under 139 total, putting him in third. But he's second in odds to win the U.S. Open, at +500. First-round leader J.J. Spaun gave back a couple shots today with a 2-over 72. Still, he's solo second on the leaderboard and the third choice at +700.
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler continues to command oddsmakers' respect. Scheffler shot 1-over 71 Friday for a 4-over 144 total. Yet he's the +750 fourth choice to win, despite a seven-stroke deficit.
"Scheffler is more than capable of coming back from his current position, especially with the discipline needed on this course. The others can easily come back to him in no time," Sherman said. "We still have liability on Scheffler, so any other golfer is preferred at this point.
"Hovland and Detry are small winners for us, Adam Scott is a solid winner and Ben Griffin a moderate winner in the outrights."
Scott and Griffin are tied for fourth at even-par 140, while Detry is tied for eighth at 142.
Jon Rahm entered the second round as the +500 favorite, after a 1-under 69 Thursday. But Rahm shot 5-over 75 today for a 4-over 144 total, sliding down to a tie for 24th, and he's now out to +2500.
UPDATE 4:45 P.M. ET FRIDAY: As Round 2 continues to unfold, the U.S. Open futures odds board is getting a thorough shaking up. Jon Rahm was the post-Round 1 favorite in the 5/1 range, then went out and shot 5-over 75.
With a two-round total of 4-over 144, Rahm is now +3000 on in-play at Caesars Sports.
Scottie Scheffler shot 73 and is also at 144, but is still commanding oddsmakers' respect. He's the +750 fourth choice, despite sitting eight shots behind big-time surprise leaders J.J. Spaun (+450) and Thriston Lawrence (+4000). Spaun and Lawrence are still on the course.
Sam Burns shot 65 today and is the clubhouse leader at 3-under 137. Burns is the +330 favorite in U.S. Open odds.
UPDATE MIDNIGHT ET THURSDAY: Prior to the first round, J.J. Spaun closed as a +15000 long shot in The SuperBook's U.S. Open futures odds. After Round 1, Spaun is the +1000 co-third choice.
Spaun had an impressive bogey-free round on the demanding course, shooting 4-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead. SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman was just fine with that.
"Spaun was 80/1 to be the first-round leader. We had three small tickets on him, so he was a good result for us in that market," Sherman said. "Spaun is an excellent outcome if he were to win. He closed 150/1 pre-tournament and had light support."
Scottie Scheffler, on the other hand, had heavy pre-tourney support while closing as the +275 favorite. He's No. 1 in tickets and money at The SuperBook.
But Scheffler shot 3-over 73, putting him seven shots off the lead entering Day 2. Still, he's the +600 second choice, trailing only Jon Rahm, who shot 1-under 69 and is the +500 favorite.
Among other name players in the mix: Brooks Koepka (68) is tied for third and joins Spaun at +1000, and Collin Morikawa (70) is tied for 11th while sitting as the +1200 fifth choice.
"Rahm is a better outcome than Koepka or Morikawa. But all three would be solid for us," Sherman said. "We have looming liability on Scheffler, and Thomas Detry at current odds of 50/1 would be around break even for us."
Detry is part of a five-way tie for sixth at 1-under 69. Thriston Lawrence is another surprise, sitting solo second after a 3-under 67.
"Lawrence closed pre-tournament at 1000/1, with just one $5 ticket on him. He's now 70/1 and seeing more support than he did pre-tournament," Sherman said. "Our largest liability in the pool ended up being on high school junior Mason Howell, who is now 5000/1."
Howell got a bit of an education at Oakmont, shooting 7-over 77. He's tied for 119th and unlikely to make the cut, with only the top 60 and ties advancing after Round 1.
Lapping The Field
UPDATE 11:30 A.M. ET THURSDAY: On Wednesday night, The SuperBook took a $25,000 bet Scottie Scheffler +280 in U.S. Open Odds. So SuperBook VP of risk Jeff Sherman made a modest move on the favorite, shifting Scheffler to +275.
Prior to that wager, even with Scheffler No. 1 in ticket count, he was a winner for The SuperBook. Now, he's among eight golfers in the field who are liabilities.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy continued his pre-tourney slide. A week ago, he was the +800 co-second choice with Bryson DeChambeau. By Tuesday, McIlroy was out to +1400, and he slid to +1600 by Wednesday night.
"Bettors have shied away from Rory at this point, coming off his subpar performance at the PGA Championship," Sherman said, alluding to McIlroy's 47th-place finish. "The U.S. Open is at Oakmont, where Rory missed the cut in 2016."
All that said, McIlroy is 1 under through 12 holes today, tied for seventh in the very early going of the first round.
UPDATE 2 P.M. ET TUESDAY: Scottie Scheffler posted a five-shot victory in the PGA Championship. In fact, Scheffler has won three of his last four events, taking the Byron Nelson and Memorial titles, as well.
And he tied for fourth in the Charles Schwab open. He's the no-doubt No. 1 player on the planet, and he's being treated accordingly by bookmakers. The SuperBook has Scheffler a tidy +280 favorite in U.S. Open futures odds. And that's in from +300 last week.
Even at those short numbers, bettors aren't backing off.
"There's no Scottie fatigue, as he resides at No. 1 in ticket count. But at this time, he's No. 3 in money wagered. The larger wagers have yet to show up on him," SuperBook vice president of risk Jeff Sherman said.
Rory McIlroy, who took the Masters this year for his first major win since 2014, is falling back. A week ago, he was the +800 co-second choice with Bryson DeChambeau. Now, McIlroy is the +1400 fourth choice, while DeChambeau – the defending U.S. Open champion – is solo No. 2 at +700.

UPDATE 12:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11: At the moment, The SuperBook's top five players in ticket count are:
- Scheffler
- Collin Morikawa
- DeChambeau
- Ludvig Aberg
- Sepp Straka
The top five in money are:
- Scheffler
- Tommy Fleetwood
- Dechambeau
- Shane Lowry
- Morikawa
"Aberg has seen an uptick in support, going from 25/1 Monday to 20/1 Tuesday," Sherman said.
Morikawa is the +2500 co-seventh choice. Fleetwood and Lowry are both +3000, and Straka is +4000.
UPDATE 1 P.M. ET FRIDAY, JUNE 6: As Sherman noted above, Scheffler leads the way in bets taken on 2025 U.S. Open odds. Collin Morikawa, the +2500 co-seventh choice, is No. 2 in tickets, and Dechambeau is third.
The SuperBook's top three in money count:
- Collin Morikawa (+3000)
- Tommy Fleetwood (+3200)
- Justin Thomas (+3700)
"In that [second] tier of golfers, Morikawa, Fleetwood and Lowry are seeing ample early support," Sherman said. "Of the main contenders, we actually do very well on Scheffler and Xander Schauffele."
Schauffele is the +2000 co-fifth choice in The SuperBook's U.S. Open odds, joined by Ludvig Aberg.
So who's the book rooting against?
"Our larger liability positions at this time are Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Tony Finau and Matt Fitzpatrick," Sherman said.
Finau and Fitzpatrick can still be had for +6000.
Sherman also noted a possible under-the-radar player.
"A dark horse who I think can threaten is Harris English. I recently played him at 150/1," Sherman said. "At the U.S. Open, he finished eighth in 2023, third in 2021 and fourth in 2020. So he's done well enduring this challenge recently.
"And he played Oakmont in 2016, finishing 37th. So at least has some course experience."
