Golf Opening Odds for Double-Header Weekend

There are two PGA Tour events this week. Most of the top golfers will be heading to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational prior to next week’s PLAYERS Championship, but others will take a trip to the Caribbean for the Puerto Rico Open.

The 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational will take place at Bay Hill Club and Lodge just outside Orlando, Florida. The Golf Channel will broadcast the tournament live from 2 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, and they will carry the API from 12:30 p.m. ET to 2:30 p.m. ET over the weekend. NBC will take over broadcasting duties on Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. ET to 6:30 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Puerto Rico Open will be held at Grand Reserve Country Club in Rio Grande. The Golf Channel will be responsible for all the coverage of this event. They will broadcast from 10 a.m. ET to 1 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, and they will air the tournament from 2:30 p.m. ET to 5 p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday.

To no one’s surprise, Jon Rahm is the favorite to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Rahm has yet to win a PGA Tour event this season, but the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world finished runner-up at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and T3 at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. Europeans have had a lot of success at Bay Hill, so it’s not a bad idea to go with the favorite.

The best bet at the Arnold Palmer Invitational is former champion Marc Leishman at 33-1 though. Leishman is in good form with five T20 finishes in his last six tournaments. He failed to make the cut here last year, but he won the event in 2017, finished runner-up in 2020, and he grabbed third place in 2011.

2022 Puerto Rico Open Odds

  • Matthias Schwab +1800
  • Mark Hubbard +2000
  • John Huh +2500
  • All Other Golfers +2800 or More

There is even more value in picking the winner of the Puerto Rico Open as only one golfer has odds of less than 20-1. Rookie Matthias Schwab is seen as the favorite after finishing T7 at The Honda Classic last week, but he has yet to win a PGA Tour event.

Brice Garnett is the top play at this tournament though despite failing to make the cut in seven of his 11 PGA Tour events this season. Garnett is 50-1 to win the Puerto Rico at BetMGM, and he has improved markedly over his five trips to Grand Reserve. He earned a T20 finish in 2020 and a T5 finish last year after a 65 on Sunday.
