Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trail Blazers Predictions

After finishing second in the West with a record of 51-21 last year, Phoenix stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to the new season, as the Suns opened with losses in three of their first four games – despite being favored in three of those affairs.

Phoenix has been nearly perfect since starting 1-3 though, as the Suns enter Tuesday’s contest following riding an impressive 20-1 run – with their only loss across that window coming on the second half of a back-to-back against the Warriors.

On the other hand, Portland jumped out to a relatively strong start to this season, as the Blazers kicked things off with a solid 10-8 SU stretch – which included tough victories over the Suns, Sixers, and Clippers.

Portland has been awful since starting 10-8 though, considering the Blazers enter Tuesday’s contest following losses in eight of the last nine games – with their only victory across that span coming in an ugly, low scoring battle against the Pistons (W, 110-92).

I’ll lay the points with Phoenix here, as despite Booker’s latest six-game absence, the Suns have still played decent basketball, boasting wins in five of the last six games – while the Blazers continue to struggle in the absence of CJ McCollum, having lost seven of their last nine.

Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 21-5
  • ATS: 13-13
  • O/U: 10-16

After battling all the way through the final calendar day of last year’s regular season for the conference crown, it was surprising to see Phoenix struggle out of the gate to open the year, as the Suns posted losses to the Nuggets, Blazers, and Kings across the first week of this season.

Phoenix just needed a few games to knock the rust off though, considering the Suns enter Tuesday’s contest following wins in 20 of the last 21 games – with half of those wins coming by nine points or more.

Portland Trail Blazers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-16
  • ATS: 10-16-1
  • O/U: 13-14

After a rocky landing last year, Portland jumped out to a surprisingly encouraging start to the new season, as the Blazers posted wins in 10 of their first 18 games – positioning themselves comfortably in the hunt for a playoff spot in the West.

Portland has fallen victim to the injury bug as of late though, considering the Blazers enter Tuesday’s contest following losses in eight of the last nine games – despite being favored in over half of those matchups.

(AP) The Blazers are 1-4 ATS across the last five games.

Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trail Blazers Head-to-Head

The Blazers and Suns split a two-game regular-season set to start the year, with each team claiming a double-digit victory on its respective home floor. Both matchups went over the total set for Tuesday’s affair at a lofty average of 233.5 PPG.

Key Players to Watch

  • PHO: Chris Paul - PG (14.4 PPG, 3.9 REB, 10.2 AST)
  • PHO: Deandre Ayton - C (16.3 PTS, 11.1 REB, 1.5 AST)

  • POR: Jusuf Nurkic - PF (13.1 PTS, 10.1 REB, 2.3 AST)

Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trail Blazers Betting Conclusion

After losing a fifth straight game on Sunday night, the Blazers enter Tuesday’s contest as narrow home underdogs against the visiting Suns – marking the third time Portland has been an underdog across the last four games.

I’ll lay the points with Phoenix here, as despite the Suns playing short-handed with a rest-disadvantage – Portland has just been far too difficult to trust lately, having lost eight of the last nine games.
