Nets vs. Celtics Predictions

After finishing second in the East with a record of 48-24 SU last year, Brooklyn barreled out to a similarly triumphant start to this season, as the Nets opened with an impressive 26-14 SU run – with 15 of those victories coming by eight points or more.

The Nets have played awful since Kevin Durant’s latest injury though, considering Brooklyn enters Sunday riding a miserable 3-16 SU skid, while scoring just 103.2 OPPG at home and 110.3 OPPG on the road across that span – but fortunately, KD returned to action this past Thursday, and poured in 31 PTS on 10-21 FG during a highly competitive loss to the Heat (L, 113-107).

On the other hand, Boston posted a surprisingly poor start to the season, as the Celtics kicked things off with a frustrating 15-20 SU and ATS skid – with ten of those SU losses coming by double-digits.

The Celtics have seemingly turned things around through excellent defense though, considering Boston enters Sunday boasting records of 22-8 SU and 15-15 ATS across their last 30 games – while scoring 110.7 OPPG and allowing just 100.3 DPPG during that timeframe.

I’ll back Brooklyn here, as despite posting SU losses in 16 of their last 19 games, the Nets played cohesive basketball for most of KD’s return this past Thursday, even extending their lead to double-digits late in the first half – and the combined presence of Kyrie Irving and KD should finally push them over the edge in a tough road matchup against Boston.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

  • SU: 32-32
  • ATS: 25-37-2
  • O/U: 32-31-1

After falling to Milwaukee in a thrilling seven-game conference semi-final set, the Nets stormed out to an impressive start to this season, as Brooklyn cruised into January sitting at 26-14 SU – yet still ranked near the bottom of the barrel ATS at 17-22-1

The Nets completely fell apart during KD’s latest injury absence though, considering Brooklyn enters Sunday riding a frustrating 3-16 SU skid, which includes a 1-8 SU tally in matchups with Irving – and a 2-8 SU mark in matchups without him.

Boston Celtics Betting Analysis

  • SU: 38-27
  • ATS: 33-31-1
  • O/U: 28-35-2

After finishing seventh in the East with a record of 36-36 SU this year, Boston briefly kept that same ball rolling with another mediocre start to this season, as the Celtics opened with a frustrating 15-20 SU stretch – despite getting tagged as favorites in 22 of those contests.

The Celtics have admirably flipped the script since January though, considering Boston enters Sunday riding a sturdy 22-8 SU run, while scoring 114+ PTS in 12 of those contests (110.7 OPPG) – and allowing 100 PTS or less in 16 of them (100.3 DPPG).

The Nets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 matchups against Boston. (AP)

The Nets swept a three-game regular-season set against Boston last year, with the first two matchups going over the total at an average of 224 PPG – while the final event stayed under with a score of 109-104. The Celtics are 2-1 SU against Brooklyn this season though, with all three matchups soaring over the number at an average of 226.3 PPG.

Key Players to Watch

  • BKN: Kevin Durant - SF (29.3 PPG, 7.3 REB, 5.7 AST)
  • BKN: Kyrie Irving - PG (25.1 PPG, 4.8 REB, 5.3 AST)
  • BOS: Jayson Tatum - PF (26 PPG, 8.3 REB, 4.2 AST)
  • BOS: Marcus Smart - SG (11.9 PPG, 3.9 REB, 5.5 AST)

Nets vs. Celtics Betting Conclusion

After posting a home loss in KD’s return to action on Thursday night (L, 113-107), the Nets hit the road for Sunday’s contest as three-point underdogs against the Celtics at TD Garden – marking the 16th straight game Boston has been favored in.

I’ll back Brooklyn here, as Sunday afternoon’s tilt is between one of the hottest and coldest teams in basketball at the moment, but I’ll still cast my vote of confidence to the ice-cold squad, as the Nets desperately need wins down the stretch – and should receive a significant boost from the combined presence of Kyrie and KD in this matchup.
