Fantasy Football Primer: Matchups To Target For Week 6

Image Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images
Last week we took a look at some key matchups for week 5 and we found some winners (Jones/Goff/Prescott/Croskey-Merritt) and some losers (Eteienne/Kamara) We will take a look at the best fantasy matchups and what players are worth drafting in fantasy lineups for this week or starting in your leagues. This is also a great way to target NFL player props.
The best way to take advantage of this information is to draft lineups at Underdog Fantasy. NFL WEEK 6 PASSING MATCHUPS

In the passing game, I am keeping a close eye on 4 guys:
- Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens)
- Jordan Love (Cincinnati Bengals vs. Green Bay Packers)
- Bo Nix (Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets)
- Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers)
You could also make a serious case for Bryce Young here. The Dallas Cowboys currently allow the second most EPA/dropback with .333. I have slight talent concerns when it comes to Bryce, but this could be a defense that he has successs against just like everyone else in the league has.
Here are guys that I am "sitting" heading into week 6:
- Jaxson Dart (New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles)
- Michael Penix (Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills)
- Joe Flacco (Cincinnati Bengals vs. Green Bay Packers)
- Dillon Gabriel (Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers)
- Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals vs. Indianapolis Colts)
I don't believe any of this is particularly surprising. Dillon Gabriel may just be a weekly feature on this sit list. He had a decent performance in London against the Vikings, but it does not get much easier having to face the AFC North leading pass defense.
The Bengals new quarterback Joe Flacco has a tough test ahead of him debuting against the Green Bay Packers. He has beat them once this year, why not make it 2?
Jaxson Dart followed his first career win with a poor showing against the New Orleans Saints. He now has to face a Philadelphia Eagles defense who is 8th in dropback success rate allowed. This could be a long primetime debut for Jaxson
NFL WEEK 6 RUSHING MATCHUPS

I believe the rushing picture is much more clear than the passing picture. Here are a few running backs I will be looking to start this week:
- Saquon Barkley/Will Shipley (Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants)
- Rico Dowdle (Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys)
- Hassan Haskins (!) (Los Angeles Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins)
- Bills RB Room (Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons)
- David Montgomery/Jahmyr Gibbs (Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs)
I want to first touch on the Hassan Haskins pick. Omarion Hampton is sidelined for at least 4 games with an ankle injury, and if LAC only elevates Vidal and rolls with 2 RBs, this opens the door for Haskins. I would have to believe his old friend in Jim Harbaugh will be looking to get the ball to him early and often.
Most of these other matchups are not surprising. I will be taking Will Shipley in the Touchdown Jackpot FanDuel promo. I love the matchup and we have seen more of Shipley than any other back up RB.
Here are a few backs I am "sitting" this week:
- D'Andre Swift (Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders
- Chase Brown (Cincinnati Bengals vs. Green Bay Packers)
- Tony Pollard (Tennessee Titans vs. Las Vegas Raiders)
- Breece Hall (New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos)
Based on this graph, you could even make a strong case for sitting Christian McCaffrrey given the matchup, but his volume is so large it is hard to put him in that position.
Sitting D'Andre Swift is a layup. Not only has he performed poorly coming in at RB33, but he faces a decent rush defense in the Washington Commanders who rank 10th in rush success rate allowed.
CONCLUSION
Above, I have highlighted players that I like and don't like in both the run and passing game. You can use this data along with the latest NFL odds to power your NFL bets.
