LATEST UPDATE: At 8:10 p.m. ET, 40 minutes before tipoff, Michigan is -6.5 in BetMGM's March Madness championship game odds. And BetMGM is offering reduced juice, with Michigan -6.5 (-110)/UConn +6.5 (even).

On Saturday night, the Wolverines opened -7.5 (-105), then stuck at various iterations of -7.5 until dipping to -6.5 Sunday morning. The number hasn't moved off 6.5 since, though the juice adjusted several times.

"It's been Michigan money all day. We will be cheering UConn to cover. Michigan by 1-6 will be our best result," BetMGM trading manager Tristan Davis said. "We have liability on UConn for the futures, but the result now is really not so bad if the Huskies go on to win."

That's due in part to four big bets that just landed at BetMGM:

  • $150,000 Michigan -4.5 (-170)
  • $100,000 Michigan -5.5 (-140)
  • $50,000 Michigan -6.5 (-115)
  • Michigan -7.5 (+105)

If all four bets cash, that's a profit of approximately $229,400.

BetMGM's total is at its high point of 146.5, after opening at 145.5 and initially receding to 144.5. Davis said per usual, the book wants the Under.

SECOND UPDATE: Michigan is -6.5 (-115) in Hard Rock Bet's NCAA Tournament championship game odds, as of 4:30 p.m. ET Monday. That's down a point from Saturday night's opener of Wolverines -7.5.

Michigan is taking 61% of spread bets and a more noteworthy 74% of spread money. On the moneyline, bet count solidly favors underdog UConn at 71%, but 67% of money is on the Wolverines.

"Our customers are largely expecting a maize-and-blue coronation tonight," Hard Rock Bet senior vice president-sportsbook Neil Walsh said. "But there's a meaningful group that believes in Danny Hurley's championship swagger and grabbed UConn futures at prices as long as 25/1.

"In dollar terms, that futures exposure on UConn is roughly four times the size of Michigan's. So when you factor in nearly three-quarters of spread handle laying the points with the Wolverines, our ideal Monday night is a sleepy Michigan win: Wolverines by about 4, in a game that never cracks 140."

Hard Rock's total is at 145.5 (Over -115), up from the 144.5 opener and the low point of 143.5, reached multiple times Sunday/early today. It's heavy Over action so far, at 82% of bets/83% of money.

FIRST UPDATE: As of 12:30 p.m. ET Sunday, Michigan is a 6.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. That's down a point from Saturday night's opener of Wolverines -7.5 (-105), which quickly adjusted to -7.5 flat.

Michigan is seeing 58% of early spread bets/64%of early spread money.

DraftKings' total is at 144.5 (Under -115), with no movement so far. However, the bulk of early play is on the Over, at 82% of bets/86% of money.

OPENING ODDS UPDATE: No. 2 UConn (34-5 SU/17-22 ATS) kept No. 3 Illinois at arm's length much of the way in Saturday's first semifinal. The Huskies closed as 1.5-point underdogs and claimed a 71-62 victory, their fourth straight win and cover in the NCAA Tourney.

In fact, UConn continued in its role as a spread-covering machine in March Madness odds. The Huskies, going for their third title in four years, are on runs of:

  • 11-0 ATS in the Sweet 16 or later
  • 15-0 ATS in the Round of 32 or later

No. 1 Michigan (36-3 SU/19-20 ATS) kept fellow No. 1 Arizona at far more than arm's length most of the night in the second semifinal. The Wolverines led by as much as 30 in the second half while trucking the Wildcats 91-73 as 1.5-point underdogs.

Michigan has scored 90 or more points in all five NCAA Tournament games, going 4-0 ATS in the last four outings, after an 0-6 ATS nosedive.

Following Michigan's blowout win, DraftKings Sportsbook opened the Wolverines -7.5 (-105) in NCAA Tournament championship game odds. Within minutes, Michigan adjusted to -7.5 flat.

Last week, once the Final Four was set, DraftKings put up hypothetical odds of Michigan -5.5 vs. UConn. So if you fired on Michigan early, then you got a better number by 2 points. Conversely, if you waited on UConn, you're getting a better number, and you might want to wait longer.
