2022 Atlanta Falcons Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 ATLANTA FALCONS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

After finishing dead last in the NFC South with a record of 4-12 SU two years ago, the Falcons elected to run it back one more time with veteran QB Matt Ryan last season, which bred mild improvement comparatively (7-10 SU), but still fell short of their ultimate goal to reach the playoffs.

As a result, Atlanta shipped Ryan to Indianapolis this past offseason where he signed a comfy two-year deal, and acquired former Raiders backup Marcus Mariota, who’s eyeing his first starting job since leading the Titans to a 9-7 SU mark back in 2018.

However, Mariota’s job security is far from a sure thing, considering the Falcons drafted former Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder in the third round of the latest NFL Draft, who’s seemingly poised to claim Atlanta’s starting quarterback job sometime in the near future.

Atlanta’s offense is going to look completely different this season, as not only will the Falcons have a new face under center, but they also parted ways with crucial pass-catchers in WR Russell Gage and TE Hayden Hurst; along with their top wideout Calvin Ridley serving a year-long suspension due to gambling violations.

Best Bet: Falcons Under 4.5 Wins (-105)

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 4.5 (-125)
  • Under 4.5 (-105)

The Falcons were one of the best bottom-tier teams in the league last season, and fortunately, they drew a handful of matchups against similarly subpar opponents, highlighted by Atlanta rising to victories over the Giants, Jets, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, and Dolphins during their previous campaign.

Atlanta’s schedule is far less forgiving this time around though, with Carolina being the only aforementioned squad landing on the Falcons’ 2022 docket thanks to division scheduling; while last year’s winnable matchups have been replaced by much tougher opponents with the NFC South set to square off against the AFC North and NFC West this season.

ATLANTA FALCONS ODDS TO WIN NFC SOUTH

+2000

Atlanta’s odds to win the NFC South is where I see the least value, as not only would the Falcons need Tom Brady to go back into retirement in order to compete for the division crown, but they’d also need to beat out the Saints and Panthers if that happened, which certainly isn’t guaranteed.

ATLANTA FALCONS ODDS TO WIN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+5000

The Falcons are listed as 1-to-50 longshots to win the NFC this year, which is tied for the second-worst odds in the conference, with the Giants (+5000), Panthers (+5000), and Lions (+6600) being the only other squads disrespected to that extent.

ATLANTA FALCONS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+10000

Atlanta is also listed as a distant longshot to win this year’s Super Bowl (+10000), which positions them amongst a lackluster group of non-contenders with the Jaguars (+10000), Panthers (+10000), Lions (+12500), Jets (+12500), and Texans (25000).

ATLANTA FALCONS 2022 MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Desmond Ridder (QB) +15000

Kyle Pitts (TE) +15000

Cordarelle Patterson (FLEX) +15000

The only name worth consideration on this list is Ridder, and that’s only due to the fact the 22-year-old still hasn’t played an NFL game. Don’t hold your breath, though. Browns' RB Jim Brown was the first and only rookie to ever win MVP (1957), and I highly doubt Atlanta’s third-round pick will change that in 2022.

Make no mistake, Kyle Pitts and Cordarelle Patterson are both solid players, but neither have proven capable of exploding for an MVP caliber season within an offense that probably won’t be very good.

ATLANTA FALCONS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (+625) | No (-1000)

Since I’m required to pick a side here, I believe the value actually lies with the Falcons making the playoffs at +625. Betting heavily on the Falcons to miss the postseason at -1000 after winning seven games last year and bringing in two new quarterbacks doesn’t feel all that safe; I’d rather sprinkle some change on the off-chance Atlanta looks decent with either Mariota or Ridder under center.
