2021 Atlanta Falcons Betting Odds, Predictions, Preview
The Atlanta Falcons are stuck somewhere that no professional sports team wants to be, the land of mediocrity. Since 2017 it’s been a downward spiral with two 7-9 finishes followed up by last year’s unimpressive 4-12 season. After dealing star wideout Julio Jones in a blockbuster offseason trade to the Titans this team is not only bleeding away talent but also identity.
Looking through this schedule it’s clear they do have a couple of fairly obvious wins. I think they end up beating the Giants, Jets, Jaguars, Lions, and the Panthers at least once. That puts them at a solid five wins, anything above that appears to be swinging upwards. They definitely could win another game or two, but I highly doubt they get to the required eight wins. I normally don’t feel as comfortable betting season-long unders due to the possible ceiling outcomes that are possible with most teams, with the Falcons I just don’t see it. We know what we’re gonna get from Matt Ryan, this defense is most likely outside the top 15, and this offense most likely doesn’t get any better after losing both Jones and Gurley.
This team didn’t improve from last year’s 4-12 results yet we’re suddenly expected to assume they can make it to 8 wins this year? Plenty of people are leaning on the extra game as a crutch to explain the unlikely outcome but I’m not sure one extra game is gonna save the Falcons this year.

Atlanta Falcons Odds to Win NFC South
This is a bet I really have no interest in. The Falcons are only a couple of years removed from being up 28-3 against the Patriots in the Super Bowl yet there are very few pieces remaining from that team. While Matt Ryan is still in a position to lead a winning team the rest of the Falcons aren’t quite on his level. It will be interesting to see how far this team will go, I personally don’t have much faith that they can compete in such a competitive division.
Atlanta Falcons Odds to Win NFC Championship
I think there is just too much competition standing in the Falcons way before they have any shot of making it this far. For most teams, I can realistically look through their schedule and devise a way for them to make the playoffs but I’m just not seeing it with the Falcons. They have a couple of layups along the way but this Falcons team realistically shouldn’t see more than seven wins this year. If you can't make the playoffs then you definitely can't win the NFC Championship. These are obviously some generous odds but despite +2500 I’m gonna pass.
Atlanta Falcons Odds to Win Super Bowl 56
I know this team is just a couple of years removed from a super bowl appearance but as I mentioned earlier, not much of that team is still left. Matt Ryan will continue to be an above-average quarterback in this league but they’re gonna need a lot more than that to win a championship. +6000 is obviously a nice number I just honestly cant talk myself into the Falcons this year.
Atlanta Falcons 2021 MVP Contenders & Odds
Matt Ryan +5000
Calvin Ridley +15000
Matt Ryan has shown he does have the upside capable in the past but times are changing and he’s not getting any younger. I’m not necessarily low on Ryan I just don’t think he’ll attract the media attention necessary to be a viable competitor for this team. It honestly feels like he and someone like Aaron Rodgers or Ryan Tannehill could but up the same exact stats but since there on winning playoff teams they get the nod. I feel bad that Ryans stuck in this spot but I won’t be pity betting him this season.
Wide Receivers don’t win the MVP award. I’m super excited for Calvin Ridley’s output with the absence of Julio Jones but how about you just draft him in your fantasy leagues and leave it there. It will be a great season for Ridley, but there is no reason to bet a wide receiver to win MVP this season.
Atlanta Falcons Preseason Betting Odds & MarketsMake Playoff?: Yes +240 No -305
Most Games Won: +6000
Fewest Games Won: +2500
Coach of the Year: Arthur Smith +1600
The unfortunate part about mediocrity is they really won’t qualify for any of these awards. The most likely is unarguably the Falcons to miss the playoffs at -305 but it’s not worth the odds you would be paying. If Matt Ryan somehow got injured in the preseason then I think the fewest games won could be a legitimate possibility at +2500.
