2021 Baltimore Ravens Betting Odds, Predictions, Preview

The Baltimore Ravens enter the 2021 season as the favorites to win the AFC North Division, but it's a three-horse race with the Cleveland Browns right there in the odds department, with the Pittsburgh Steelers slightly behind.

QB Lamar Jackson is one of the most dynamic athletes in the league, and whenever he is on the field, fans and defenses take notice. And each are nearly equally good at stopping him. That is, to say, neither is terribly effective at slowing Jackson down.

But it's not a one-man show in Charm City, as Jackson has a host of other other solid skill-position players, from RB JK Dobbins and "The Gus Bus", Gus Edwards. In addition, WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown received company from veteran Sammy Watkins and first-round pick Rashod Bateman, so Jackson will have plenty of toys. Add in TEs Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle, and this offense could be quite effective.

And we all know about the Baltimore defense. They're once again expected to be a Top 5 unit, and that's what sets them apart from just about everyone but the Steelers in the AFC.

The Ravens could get off to a fairly fast start, as the schedule isn't terribly daunting early on, save for a visit from Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a marquee matchup on Sunday night in Week 2.

The second half of the schedule is rather backloaded with important games, especially in the division, as the Ravens won't see the Browns or Steelers until Thanksgiving and beyond. That means we won't get much clarity in the AFC North until the holidays, and a lot could change by then due to performance, injuries, etc. It will be a fun ride, however. The lean here would be toward OVER 10.5 wins (+127), and playing it at plus-money is extra attractive.

Baltimore Ravens Odds to Win AFC North

+125

The Ravens enter the season as the favorites in the division, ever-so-slightly, and I'd play them over the Browns, who still haven't shown they can be a regular force after just one good year. And the Steelers are on the downside, although they did add some nice pieces in the offseason. Still, Baltimore is the team to beat in this division, and this is a solid wager.

Baltimore Ravens Odds to Win AFC Championship

+650

We have seen the Ravens dominate in the regular season with Jackson at the helm, only to see disappointment in the postseason for No. 8 and his teammates. Until this team is able to get over the playoff hump, they're not a good bet to make it to the Super Bowl. Remember, and it's not all Jackson's history, but the Ravens are just 2-4 in the previous six playoff games dating back to the 2012 playoffs.

Baltimore Ravens Odds to Win Super Bowl 56

+1400

I don't like the Ravens to make the big game, therefore I obviously don't care for them to win it all. The skill position players for Baltimore are nice, but I still think they're a little green, and could use another year of seasoning before they're a legit title contender.

Baltimore Ravens 2021 MVP Contenders & Odds

Lamar Jackson +1600

J.K. Dobbins +25000

We've seen Jackson win the Offensive MVP award in 2019, sweeping both The Associated Press and Pro Football Writers Association honors. And while he is super exciting to watch, and he puts up outstanding numbers with his legs, I'll take the passing of Mahomes over him any day of the week. In fact, I'd take a lot of other quarterbacks over Jackson. Therefore, I just don't trust him for a second MVP award in three years, if ever. As far as Dobbins, he is a nice complementary piece, but I would name 50 other players I'd expect to win the award before him. No sale.

Baltimore Ravens Preseason Betting Odds & Markets

Make Playoff?: Yes -305 No +235
Most Games Won: +1100
Fewest Games Won: +15000
Coach of the Year: John Harbaugh +2200

The odds to simply make the playoffs are rather costly, as you must put up over three times your potential return, and I don't like to tie up that kind of lettuce for a several-month futures wager for such a small win. Avoid that, and take a chance on John Harbaugh for the Coach of the Year award instead. If he is able to lead the Ravens to an AFC Division title, and perhaps home-field advantage, he'd get plenty of votes for COY. I like that wager, especially at +2200, over the 'Most Games Won' wager at +1100. In the black-and-blue AFC North, I don't see another team going 14-2 or so like the Steelers in 2020.
