Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts Predictions

Score Prediction - Seahawks 27 Colts 20

A month ago, we didn’t know how many Indianapolis Colts would be healthy for Week 1. Carson Wentz, T.Y. Hilton, Eric Fisher, Ryan Kelly, and Quenton Nelson all had availability concerns, but it looks like only one player will miss the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Hilton opens the season on injured reserve, but Wentz and the three best offensive linemen on the Colts should be in action on Sunday afternoon.

This will be Carson Wentz’s first start under center for the Colts. Indianapolis traded a conditional second- and third-round draft pick to Philadelphia for Wentz in the offseason. The front office is hoping that Wentz can recapture his form from the 2017, 2018, or 2019 seasons instead of posting a season like we saw in 2020.

When healthy, this offensive line is probably the best in the NFL. Quenton Nelson is the best guard in the league, and tackle Eric Fisher has made the Pro Bowl in two of the last three seasons. Center Ryan Kelly made his first All-Pro team in 2020 too, so they will be able to pave the way for Jonathan Taylor if they are close to 100%.

That offensive line won’t find it easy to push around a defensive line anchored by defensive tackle Poona Ford. Al Woods and Carlos Dunlap II are veterans, and this unit can take it to another level if L.J. Collier starts living up to his first-round potential.

Seattle should have a good bit of success on offense. Russell Wilson is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and he has an elite receiver tandem in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Tight end Gerald Everett is a touchdown machine in the red zone too.

The question mark is the offensive line. Chris Carson is one of the most efficient backs in the NFL when healthy, but this Indianapolis front seven is very good. The Colts do a good job of stuffing the run, and they get a decent amount of pressure.

The Seattle Seahawks have won four of their last five games. (AP)

Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts Betting Analysis

If Seattle’s offensive line can buy time for Russell Wilson, the Seahawks should win this game and cover the number. The Colts will likely make Seattle one-dimensional, but Metcalf and Lockett will be able to get open on these cornerbacks. Wentz won’t have as much success for Indianapolis in this game.
