Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions

Score Prediction - Denver 27 Jacksonville 16

Denver and Jacksonville are coming into this game in almost complete opposite trajectories. Denver had a very impressive Week 1 win, which clearly reinforced the idea that Teddy Bridgewater was the correct pick for the starting quarterback job. Jacksonville on the other hand, got absolutely thrashed by a team that was projected to be terrible.

Rookie quarterbacks historically struggle to win their first game, and Trevor Lawrence did not break the mold. He threw the ball almost 60 times to go with three touchdowns and three interceptions. There were definitely some positives and negatives, but Lawrence should only improve as he gets used to the NFL game flow.

Line movement has definitely been interesting so far, as this game started at -3 for the Broncos and has slowly progressed to -6, looks like I wasn't the only person impressed by Denver last week. Considering the fact that it hasn't crossed any key numbers yet, I still really like the Broncos here. It's clear they have at least a top 10 defense and that offense looked good last week. While losing young first round pick Jerry Juedy is not good, Denver is one of the deeper wide receiver cores in football, they should bounce back just fine.

Lots of people are giving the Jaguars a bit of a pass for their loss last week, but I'm not on board with that. Houston was supposed to be terrible and they probably are. The Jaguars didn't look well-coached and allowed a lot of unnecessary yardage on defense. If you're looking for additional plays, the rookie running back for Denver, Javonte Williams, is a guy I'm targeting. While he currently doesn't have any lines for rushing attempts posted, if its anything over 10.5 then I'm on board. He split snaps with Melvin Gordon last week and looked good. I expect another 13-15 carry game from the rookie.

The road team has covered the spread in six of the last seven games played between Denver and Jacksonville. (AP)

Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Analysis

Denver is coming into this game 1-0 ATS after beating the Giants in fairly definitive fashion. They closed as around 4-point favorites in most spots and garbage time was the only reason it was remotely close. Jaguars are 0-1 ATS after facing a tough defeat, despite closing as around 3-point favorites against the Texans.

I think the Jaguars will end up being better against the spread this year because of all the backdoor cover opportunities. Its clear Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence are going to air it out this season, while plenty of teams will be up enough points to bleed a couple last minute covers this year. I don't think the Broncos are in that category, but its definitely something to look out for this year.
