Jacoby Brissett will make his first start in two years this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Miami Dolphins will not have Tua Tagovailoa available this week after he suffered fractured ribs in last Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Brissett didn’t acquit himself well in relief of Tagovailoa against the Bills, but Brian Flores and the Dolphins are hoping that a week of reps will help him out.

Miami Dolphins vs. Las Vegas Raiders Predictions

The Raiders had a fantastic home crowd for their season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. They are hoping to receive similar support this week, and the fans in attendance will be looking to make life difficult for Brissett. That could lead to a couple mistakes from the veteran quarterback.

Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 1-1
  • ATS: 1-1
  • O/U: 0-2
  • ATS - Home: 0-1
  • ATS - Away: 1-0

Brissett was not good in last week’s 35-0 shutout loss to Buffalo. He completed 60% of his passes, but he averaged just 4.2 YPA and threw an interception while being sacked four times. Brissett is not much of a mobile threat either, so the offensive line will again be an issue against Maxx Crosby and Solomon Thomas.

The Dolphins are averaging just 3.4 YPC this season. Myles Gaskin has had more success than Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed, but Miami has a total of 145 rushing yards through two games. They will need to get the ground game going if they want to take the pressure off Brissett in the desert this week.

Las Vegas Raiders Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 2-0
  • ATS: 2-0
  • O/U: 1-1
  • ATS - Home: 1-0
  • ATS - Away: 1-0

Derek Carr has been excellent through the first two games of the season. Although he has been sacked five times, he is completing two-thirds of his passes while averaging 8.8 YPA. Tight end Darren Waller has been his favorite target, and Waller saw a whopping 19 balls thrown his way in Week 1. Henry Ruggs can stretch the field with his speed and is averaging 22.7 YPR.

The ground game has been subpar for the Raiders though. Josh Jacobs and Peyton Barber have combined to average a scant 2.9 YPC, and the only player with a run longer than 15 yards is back-up quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The Miami Dolphins have won four straight road games when playing as the underdog. (AP)

Miami Dolphins vs. Las Vegas Raiders Betting Conclusion

Miami has had trouble getting to the quarterback. The Dolphins have just two sacks on the year, so they won’t be able to punish Las Vegas’ offensive line like other teams have done. Brissett won’t be able to keep pace with Carr in a comfortable win for the home team.

Miami Dolphins vs. Las Vegas Raiders Betting Trends

  • Miami has won four straight road games when playing as the underdog.
  • Las Vegas has gone OVER the point total in eight of its last nine home games.
  • Las Vegas has failed to cover the spread eight of its last nine games when facing the AFC East.
