Chicago Bears vs. Las Vegas Raiders Predictions

Chicago has been blown out in both of its road games this year. The Bears lost by 20 points to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 and by 20 points to the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago. Las Vegas won’t win by that much on Sunday afternoon, but the Raiders will be able to cover the number with a double-digit victory.

Chicago Bears Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 2-2
  • ATS: 2-2
  • O/U: 1-3
  • ATS - Home: 2-0
  • ATS - Away: 0-2

Justin Fields will make his third career start this week. The rookie out of Ohio State had a dreadful performance against both teams from the Buckeye State, but he looked more competent last week against the Detroit Lions. Fields has yet to throw for a touchdown pass though, and he is currently completing less than 50% of his passes.

Top target Darnell Mooney might not be available. Mooney leads the Bears with 17 receptions for 226 yards on the season. Fields has preferred him to Allen Robinson II, and the loss of Mooney would really hurt as defenses already rotate coverage over to Robinson.

That would be an especially cruel blow as standout running back David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen are both out. Montgomery is dealing with a knee sprain, and that means Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert will see the carries for Chicago. Williams averaged 6.9 YPC against Detroit last week, and the Bears need him to run well on Sunday. Las Vegas is allowing 4.9 YPC, but the Raiders are much harder to beat through the air.

Las Vegas Raiders Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-1
  • ATS: 2-2
  • O/U: 2-2
  • ATS - Home: 1-1
  • ATS - Away: 1-1

Derek Carr was the top passer in the NFL through the first three weeks of the season. He threw for at least 380 yards in each of Las Vegas’ first three games, but he struggled against the Chargers on Monday night. Carr finished with under 200 yards passing, and he averaged just 5.8 YPA.

Speedster Henry Ruggs III is averaging 21.2 YPR as the leading receiver on the Raiders, and Darren Waller is one of the most targeted tight ends in the NFL. We have seen Hunter Renfrow develop as a competent underneath receiver, and Bryan Edwards is starting to make a name for himself.

The ground game hasn’t been that effective. Las Vegas is averaging just 3.3 YPC. Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake have struggled to find much success, and Peyton Barber has simply been decent. Barber is questionable to play on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears have lost six of their last eight road games. (AP)

Chicago Bears vs. Las Vegas Raiders Betting Conclusion

This is a bad matchup for the Bears. Chicago can stop the run, but this team has had a hard time stopping the pass. The Bears are allowing 7.6 YPA, and Carr can exploit these defensive backs. Fields won’t have as much success, leading to another Bears’ road loss.
