New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Predictions

After finishing second in the NFC East with a record of 6-10 last year, the Giants stumbled out to a miserable start to the new season, as New York kicked things off with losses in five-of-six games – which included painstaking defeats at the hands of Atlanta, Denver, and Washington.

Since their disappointing 1-5 start though, New York has played decent football across the board, highlighted by the Giants entering Monday’s contest following wins in two of the last three games – with their only loss across that window coming on the road in Kansas City (L, 20-17).

On the other hand, Tampa Bay stormed out to an excellent start, as the Buccaneers opened the year with wins in six of their first seven games – with Tom Brady and company’s only loss across that timeframe coming in a road matchup against the Rams (L, 34-24).

Lately though, the Buccaneers have encountered a bit of a cold spell, considering Tampa enters Monday’s contest following back-to-back losses to New Orleans and Washington – despite the Bucs’ getting tagged as generous favorited in both of those matchups.

I’ll take the under here, as the Giants rank 29th in the league in scoring at 19.9 PPG – while despite Tampa ranking 3 rd in scoring at 31 PPG, the Buccaneers have fallen well short of that average mark in three of their last four games (27.9 PPG).

New York Giants Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-6
  • ATS: 5-4
  • O/U: 3-5-1
  • ATS - Home: 2-3
  • ATS - Away: 3-1

Several teams could potentially make a case for owning the worst injury luck so far, but none other than the Giants’ offensively, considering Pro Bowl RB Saquon Barkley has missed over four weeks with an ankle injury – while WR’s Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepherd, Darius Slayton, and Kadarius Toney have also missed significant time with their respective issues.

The Giants are slowly approaching full strength though, making them a far more competitive opponent as a result – especially with a healthy trio of Golladay, Slayton, and Toney reprising their roles within New York’s receiving arsenal, and Barkley reportedly nearing a return ahead of Monday’s event.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 6-3
  • ATS: 3-6
  • O/U: 5-4
  • ATS - Home: 3-1
  • ATS - Away: 0-5

After finishing second in the NFC South with a record of 11-5 and going on to win last year’s Super Bowl, Tampa Bay opened its new campaign with reminiscing assertions, as the Bucs’ posted impressive victories in three of their first four games – yet still dropped a big one along the way, as they fell to the new-look Rams in a highly anticipated Week 3 matchup (L, 34-24).

The Bucs’ offensive woes seemingly subsided after the Rams’ loss, as Tampa Bay responded with four straight victories over the Patriots, Dolphins, Eagles, and Bears – while averaging 32.5 PPG across that window.

Recently though, Tampa’s defense has been the main problem, considering the Bucs’ surrendered an average of 32.5 PPG across losses to New Orleans and Washington in their latest two affairs.

New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Conclusion

After picking up a second straight loss in Washington last week (L, 29-19), the Buccaneers enter Monday night’s contest favored by roughly 11 points over the visiting Giants – marking the second time New York has been a double-digit underdog this year.

I’ll take the under, as the Bucs’ shouldn’t have too much trouble securing a home victory in Monday’s matchup – but I somewhat doubt they’ll walk all over the Giants, so I’m also backing Brady to throw an INT at plus odds here, considering he’s thrown five INT’s across his last four games.
