Scotland vs. Ukraine Betting Predictions

This will be an emotional occasion thanks to the war in Ukraine. This match was originally scheduled for March but was understandably postponed. It is impossible to know how the away team will have been affected, but what is certain is they have not played a full international since last November.

Both teams build their approach on being very hard to beat and with so much at stake – Scotland failed to qualify for the last five World Cups, Ukraine the previous three – there’s no reason to believe this will be an entertaining match. It will be tense, tight, and it could come down to which side makes the fewest (or less costly) defensive mistakes rather than which team is the most incisive going forward.

Scotland Betting Analysis

Scotland lost just once in qualifying – at eventual Group F winners Denmark – and drew their two most recent friendlies in March. They haven’t faced Ukraine since 2007, with each side winning their home match in the qualification process for Euro 2008.

While they don’t score too often against the better teams (and Ukraine are 12 places above them in the FIFA rankings) the Scots have only drawn a blank in three of their 17 matches since the start of 2021, so should be able to score here.

Ukraine Betting Analysis

Ukraine were one of only seven teams who negotiated their UEFA World Cup qualifying group without being beaten. However, they drew six of their eight games and remarkably all four fixtures at home ended 1-1.

With only one clean sheet while also never failing to score in qualification, Oleksandr Petrakov’s team are the kings of the ‘both teams to score’ market.

Scotland vs. Ukraine Betting Conclusion

If you wanted to hand pick an international match-up for a ‘yes’ bet in the ‘both teams to score’ market, Scotland vs. Ukraine would almost certainly be it. Neither team scores many but both look likely to get at least one goal each here.
