Novig is a regulated sports prediction market where you trade binary sports event contracts peer-to-peer. What that mean is contract prices are set by other traders instead of a sportsbook operator. Because there's no house on the other side of your trade, there's no built-in vig.
The mechanics are simple: open the app, pick a side on a game, and execute a trade (Yes or No) against your cash balance. You're matched against another Novig user rather than a risk desk. "I bought Dodgers Yes at 37.4¢. So that was 534 shares for just under $200, which pays $534 if they win it. The book had them at +160, returning $520 on the same stake. $14 better on the exchange, and that gap is the whole argument for a market with no house margin: not a windfall, just a slightly better number because nobody's taking a cut off the top.
It is worth knowing the break-even though. Against +160 you need Yes at 38¢ or lower, and 37.4¢ only clears that by about half a cent. On a heavily-bet favorite like the Dodgers, retail demand can bid the Yes side right past that line, and then the book is the better price. The difference is that I wasn't stuck with 37.4¢.
