Carolina In Front
LATEST UPDATE: Georgia got through its best-of-3 Super Regional in two games, but not without a serious sweat. The Bulldogs edged SEC rival Mississippi State 13-12 in Game 1, then took Game 2 11-9 in 10 innings.
BetMGM responded by making Georgia the +275 favorite, narrowly ahead of North Carolina and Texas, who are both +300. In fact, the Bulldogs lead five SEC teams that reached the final eight.
The Tar Heels entered Super Regionals as the +375 favorite, then lost Game 1 vs. USC 9-5. But Carolina took Games 2 and 3, by scores of 4-0 and 4-3, respectively.
Texas swept Oregon in Super Regional play, rolling 11-3 in Game and edging the Ducks 6-5 in Game 2.
"There's a good group of remaining teams left, with all of our worst outcomes out already," BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini said. "Georgia and Oklahoma would be the worst results of those remaining, but still winning results."
West Virginia is the feel-good story of the NCAA Tournament, with its batch of wins at home followed by stirring crowd sing-alongs of Country Roads. The Mountaineers are the +700 fourth choice after drubbing Cal Poly 12-2 and 17-1.
Then comes another SEC team in Ole Miss at +800. In fact, the Rebels beat SEC rival Auburn in the Super Regional, 6-4 and 5-3.
Oklahoma (+1400) and Alabama (+1500) are the Nos. 6-7 choices, respectively. The Sooners rolled over seasonlong upstart Kansas, with wins of 8-1 and 13-2. The Crimson Tide knocked out St. John's 8-0 and 7-2.
Troy is the plucky underdog story of the NCAA Tournament, now a +3500 long shot in 2026 CWS futures odds after breezing through its Super Regional. The Trojans swept Arkansas-Little Rock 12-2 and 9-2.
Tickets, Money, Liability
Before the NCAA regional round started, Texas led the ticket count in BetMGM's 2026 College World Series futures odds, followed by UCLA. The Bruins were No. 1 in money, just ahead of Texas and Georgia Tech.
But UCLA and Georgia Tech are now gone. And LSU, the defending national champ, was still No. 4 in tickets and No. 5 in money, despite not qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
BetMGM's top five in ticket count for 2026 CWS odds, entering regional play:
- Texas
- UCLA
- Georgia Tech
- Georgia
- North Carolina
BetMGM's top five in money for 2026 College World Series futures:
- Kansas
- UCLA
- Georgia Tech
- Texas
- Georgia
Kansas is a fluky No. 1 in money. The Jayhawks, who as noted above were just eliminated by Oklahoma, have only 3.3% of World Series futures bets, No. 10 overall. But Kansas has drawn 17.5% of money, more than double any other team.
So BetMGM just shed its largest liability. Now, two of the top three teams on the 2026 CWS futures odds board are good for the book.
"North Carolina right now is our best outcome. Texas is also a good outcome. " BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini said.
