Creighton comes into Friday night’s tilt with a straight-up 5-4 record in Big East play. The Bluejays started the month of February with an impressive four-point road victory over Connecticut closing as 10.5-point underdog. Prior to that game, they blew a 17-point lead against Xavier in a 10-point loss as slight 1.5-point underdogs at home.

The Pirates snapped a two-game skid with Tuesday’s seven-point road victory against Georgetown in a game that ended as a PUSH. This was just their second SU win in the last six outings as part of a 4-6 record in the conference. Seton Hall closed as a favorite in all four of those losses.

Given each team’s struggles in recent games, I do not trust either one against the spread. The one common trend among the two is a heavy lean towards lower scoring games than expected. This could be due to tighter defense or poor shooting, but whatever the case, I am going with the UNDER on the total line as my best bet.

Going back to 75-69 road win over Marquette on New Year’s Day as a slight 1.5-point underdog, the total has gone UNDER or ended as a PUSH in six of Creighton’s last eight games. The Bluejays beat Connecticut with just 59 points on Tuesday night and they have not scored more than 64 points in each of their last four outings.

Forward Ryan Hawkins continues to lead the team in both points (13.1) and rebounds (7.5) while averaging more than 32 minutes of playing time across Creighton’s 20 games this season. Guard Alex O’Connell is another key member of this lineup with 12.5 points per game while shooting 47.2% from the field.

Center Ryan Kalkbrenner is next on the list with 11.7 points and 7.1 rebounds, but he is listed as questionable for Friday with a bad ankle. Guard Ryan Nembhard rounds out a foursome of players averaging more than 11 PPG. He also leads the team in assists with 4.1 a game.

The Bluejays are averaging 69.2 PPG and shooting 45.5% from the field. That number drops to 30.9% from three-point range. They are pulling down 38.8 rebounds a game with 10.1 on offense. Creighton has been holding opposing teams to 65.7 PPG this season.

SETON HALL PIRATES BETTING ANALYSIS

Going back to their last game of 2021, the Pirates have been a drain on the bankroll at 2-7-1 ATS. This compares to a SU record of 4-6 to mirror the team’s issues with consistency. The one stable trend has been the UNDER on the total line. After staying UNDER in Seton Hall’s last five outings, it has stayed UNDER seven of those previous 10 games.

Guard Jared Rhoden leads a trio of Pirates scoring in double figures this season with 15.5 PPG. He is also pulling down seven rebounds a game while shooting 38.9% from the field. An important injury concern for Seton Hall in this game is guard Bryce Aiken (14.5 points). He is listed as questionable with a lingering head injury.

Guard Myles Cale (9.8 points) rounds out the team’s top scorers while shooting 40.9% from the field. He is hitting 32.1% from three-point range as one of Seton Hall’s better outside shooters. Aiken is at the top of that list with a 35.3 shooting percentage on 68 three-point attempts.

As a team, the Pirates are scoring an average of 76 PPG while shooting 42.4% from the field and 32.6% from outside the three-point line. They are pulling down a solid 40.3 rebounds a game with 12.6 offensive boards. Seton Hall’s points-allowed average this season is 67.7.
