College football odds for Week 1 are on the board and receiving plenty of attention as we tackle all the major storylines of the weekend. The West Virginia Mountaineers and Penn State Nittany Lions meet at Beaver Stadium in University Park on Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

West Virginia vs No. 7 Penn State Odds

• Opening point spread: Penn State -17.5
• Opening moneyline: Penn State -1000/West Virginia +650
• Opening total: Over/Under 52.5 points scored
• Time: 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday (NBC)

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET MONDAY: Penn State's only losses last season came to two teams that reached the CFP: Big Ten rivals Michigan and Ohio State. The Nittany Lions finished the year on runs of 5-0 SU and 7-0 ATS.

In the Rose Bowl, Penn State was a 1.5-point chalk and beat Utah 35-21.

West Virginia went 5-7 SU/6-6 ATS in 2022. But to the Mountaineers' credit, they pulled an Oklahoma exacta late in the season. West Virginia beat Oklahoma 23-20 as an 8.5-point home 'dog and Oklahoma State 24-19 as a 5-point road pup.

The Nittany Lions are out to -20.5 at Caesars Sports, reaching that number Aug. 15. The total initially climbed to 53.5, but is now down to its low point of 50.5.
