Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers Predictions

The quarterback is once again the focal point of a huge game this weekend, but two different means to the same end. Safe to say JT Barrett isn’t going to play – needing one more week to get healthy, so more Stetson Bennett. Meanwhile we’ve already seen Bo Nix get pulled this year, so don’t be too shocked if you see TJ Finley make an appearance. None of these QBs are good enough to overcome a good defense.

The problem for Auburn is that they are going up against an epic defensive unit. Georgia hasn’t even allowed a rushing touchdown all season. Auburn is going to have to play a perfect game in every aspect and definition. The Bulldogs punish teams into making mistakes, then punish them again for making them. Neither Tigers QB has thrown a pick this year, good for Auburn’s chances in keeping it close.

Their two leading rushers account for seven of the teams 12 rushing scores, but we go back to Georgia not allowing anything on the ground. This isn’t a matter of if Auburn can stick with Georgia, rather how soon do the Dawgs pull away.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 5-0
  • ATS: 4-1
  • O/U: 3-2
  • ATS - Home: 2-1
  • ATS - Away: 2-0

People may think not having Barrett in hostile territory could be a major difference-maker in Georgia winning – or even covering against Auburn. The reality is Kirby Smart’s game plan has been perfect in not asking Bennett to do too much of anything. The real gem lies in their defense. Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt are going to be in the Tigers backfield all day. The two DL are major cogs in a defensive machine giving up just 4.6 points per-game. That’s it. Zamir White leads a modest rushing attack, but while totals may be lower, White is averaging over 5 yards per carry.

Auburn Tigers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-1
  • ATS: 3-2
  • O/U: 2-2
  • ATS - Home: 2-1
  • ATS - Away: 1-1

If the Tigers didn’t come off their first road win over LSU in 21 years, maybe there’s a pathway to covering this game. While we know the outright victory is improbable, the Tigers aren’t dead to a cover. Auburn’s dual threat at RB – Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter – have provided a fantastic balance to Nix in the air.

Hunter has the speed and big play capability, which could help extend a drive or two. This isn’t about Auburn keeping Georgia’s offense off the field, but the Tigers keeping the Bulldogs defense on the field. There’s no stopping Georgia, but we don’t know quite yet if they can be worn down.

The Auburn Tigers have won seven of their last eight home games. (AP)

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers Betting Conclusion

The spread looms large with 16 points needed to cover for Georgia until you look at the difference in lines – offensive and defensive to be exact. Georgia is throwing two All-American candidates in Davis and Wyatt against an Auburn line that’s more rebuild than contend. UGA’s only blemish ATS this year (4-1) is beating South Carolina by 27, not 32. Like Arkansas the week prior, Auburn now becomes the latest victim in this statement season by Georgia.
