Focusing away from the tragic loss of life that’s impacted the Utes - seeing how they’ve played as of late – we see an offense starting to figure it out. Their QB Cameron Rising comes off a monster performance in a victory over USC.

The rushing attack put up big numbers, led by over 100 yards from Tavion Thomas. Two straight wins for Utah should beef up their confidence, and they are going to need it if they want to keep things close against Arizona State. Unfortunately, they won’t keep it close against Arizona State.

The Devils are rolling with three straight victories, sandwiched between is a win at UCLA. Their offense is playing well withRacaad White leading the Devils on the ground.

Jayden Daniels has played good enough at QB – but also the second-leading rusher. The big story, and ultimately why ASU pulls away, is their defense. They have been stellar against the run and will cause fits for Utah.

Herm Edwards has his young men focused and playing atop the Pac-12 South. Daniels isn’t blowing away secondaries by any means, but he’s been able to extend plays with his legs and limit mistakes. The three-game winning streak was fueled by the rushing attack – led by White and his nine rushing TDs this year.

But the Devils have three other guys with 140+ yards rushing, including their QB. This will be the biggest test for Utah’s defense – both stopping the run and pressuring Daniels. It’s much easier to trust ASU’s defense, especially after manhandling Stanford last week.

Taylor comes off that big game against USC, but Micah Bernard is still the team’s leading rusher. Both can break a run or two, which may be the only way Utah hangs on offense.

The best bet in this entire game would be it going over the 51.5 total. Both teams are relying on the run game more than the pass attack, but also have big play capability on both squads. The craziest stat in all of this is the Utes are only a half-game behind ASU atop the PAC-12 South.

It’s enough to keep ASU motivated and avoid any real letdown on the road. Daniels is beatable, with three interceptions and a low passer rating. The problem is he is part of a four- headed monster on the ground. Too much for Utah.
